So after having played with my guard for a while I decided to use them for a tournemant in februari from 1850p
I made a list and came to the next conclusion:
their are 28 storm troopers in my list and I dont like the metal models so I wanted to convert them from plastic cadians
their transports have to be german half tracks from world war II
I'm now trying to scratch build one half track if it works out good I gonna make 4 of them in total.
I have one storm trooper nearly finished (he has no head)
and a second who's painted for the most part except the greenstuff, note that he has no head as well
for heads I would prefer to buy the forge world heads with respirator.
so pictures from the storm troopers, but for pictures from the half track you will have to wait till tomorow

I think that cable is a bit too big, they'd trip over it running!

Thanks for the larger pictures.
I agree, the cables would probably be better a little shorter, but the overall concept is sound. Your greenstuff work looks good!
I'd recommend taking a look around Dakka's articles for some tips on improving your photographs - interesting as your keyboard is, I'd prefer to be looking at the models
Good work though sir, keep it up!

thx for all the nice reactions (and hints)
I'll have to watch at my grandmothers dog for whole the day at her house (and even tonight) so If i'm a little lucky the chimera will be in a far stadium bij this evening and maybe their will be even more storm troopers in the green stuff fase
this evening I'm coming home for a short time so then I'll post the pictures of what I have finished already

Are you counting the half-tracks as Chimeras? If so I was wondering about the lascannon, if not what were you planning on running it as?

Yep the half tracks wil count as chimeras and about that lascanon, I gonna take it back of and convert it a little bit so it looks more like a multi laser or Maybe give it a heavy flamer

Like the conversions but seeing this has irritated me, I got a complete grilling on this thread http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/221631.page for bad camera work, and to be honest your first work was worse than mine, it got better towards the end though. I suppose it depends on the people who see the thread.

Hadn't seen your thread Septic however I think you've received more feedback on the camera work because of one word - Comission (even if it was for a quid). If you use a professional word, expect professional feedback.
Like the ambition on this thread.
Keep it up

Well, I am liking the black primered one. Only thing I would really change is the barrel. Tweek it enough that it looks a bit "tougher" than just your standard Lasgun and I think you have a winner!

so the work from today and this night ( I had only one hour of sleep, was watching televisions while working on my guard)
squad one and their halftrack (chimera with heavy bolter and heavy flamer)
and know I got a question or two:
do you guys know what I can use for meeking the 2 weels for in the front and for the weels for the tracks?
I dont know how I should make the door in the back, one piece or two pieces or one piece that fall down
Thx in advance, gonna start painting my first squad soon

I would buy a 1/35 scale half-track kit. But I would just use the whole kit, which is obviously not the point of doing it all yourself.
Wheels are available from a number of online stores. I posted a whole bunch of links in another modelling thread a few weeks ago. Several threads have been done on wheels so do some searching in the forum.
The track wheels look like tank wheels. You could try curtain runners. http://www.curtain-track-parts.co.uk/Curtain_Gliders.htm

With all respect, I would not play you in a tournament with cardboard tanks. There's a line for scratch building, and a difference between a scratch built model you'll barely ever get to play with (like a titan) and not buying vehicles for your army.

I don't like the chimera model it looks more like a light support tank than a transport tank to me.
1/35 scale hmm got to look out for a shop (15km away).
maybe I'll buy the chimeras for on tournemants and use my scratch build half tracks for funplay
not buying tanks for my armies lol:
3 leman russen
3 sentinels
1 helhound
thats what I already bought for my guard and I like those models (ok not the helhound)

to the OP, think nothing of this comment, personally id play you just for the fact that it may be a fun game, not some rule lawyering about not having GW models.

I mailed to the organiser of the tournemant I will be participating in his answer:
if they are +/- equally large as the original models and not just a box made of carton you may use them.
I had send a picture of my half track (the nearly finished one) and he has given me permission to use them on the tournemant

Nice; I really like those stormtroopers, and I'm converting my own atm. Which tournament will you be attending? How big will it be?
Eagerly awaiting chimera pics.

I can't speak for Burb, but this is how I converted my storm troopers in plastic (very similar to yours):
-Space Marine Scout legs
-Cadian torso
-Cadian Lasgun arms
-The fat end of the barrel of the Scout sniper rifle
-Random head that looks cool.
With the lasgun, I clip off the barrel and file down a flat surface for the lasgun. I take the Scout sniper rifle, and snip off the fat end of the barrel, and then file down a flat end on that. Then I glue the two together, making it look "hellgunnier."

What I mean is the Stormtroopers use the "Hellfire" Las gun (don't have the codex in front of me) which is a sooped up Las gun. Your rifles look like plain jane las's. What I would recomend is the above poster's idea for the barrel OR...
If you have a wire hanger try snipping a piece off of that and using it, or even simpler, cut out the barrel between the stock and the muzzle and just glue them together. It would shorten it but it would make it beefier.

Hope that helps.
