This idea was thought up by Mad Doc Grotsnik and I have volunteered to run the first event.

The basic idea is to exchange local snack products between Dakka members around the world, to let people try something they can't find locally.

This first attack is going to start in early December and will continue through January depending on how many people join.

Rules for participation.

1. Send your postal address to me, by PM, by the 5th December.
2. I will arrange all snackers into a list so that each country represented is followed by a different country, probably in a different continent.
3. I will send the first snack which will be sent from Japan as I am going there on holiday. (It will be a Japanese snack.) The list will be in the package. My name will be the one at the bottom of the list.
4. When you receive the parcel, enjoy the snack (hopefully), cross your name off the list, and send your choice of snack to the next person on the list.
5. The value of the snack plus postage should be up to about £5 or $7.50 or equivalent.
6. No beer is to be sent as we don't know the age of the participants.
7. No glass bottled goods are to be sent in case they break.
8. Choose something that is sealed.
9. Make sure the snack will last out the journey -- so no chilled goods can be sent.
10. Choose something light to send or it will be too expensive.
11. Send it air mail so the next person doesn't wait weeks for their snack.
12. Don't forget to stick a customs form on the outside of the package.

Happy snacking!

You have until this weekend (5th-7th December) to sign up, especially if your name is Mad Doc and it was all your idea but you haven't sent your address.

OK guys,

My parcel from Japan was sent on 12th Dec and should arrive in the USA before Christmas.

Contents are a box of Kinokonoyama and a box of Takenoko.

I received the parcel today, Dec. 22nd! Will probably have to send it to the next Dakkaite after Christmas, however, since I'm driving back to CA for the next two days.

Kinokonoyama means "mountain of mushrooms".

Takenoko means bamboo shoot.

It was my father-in-law who designed the boxes. He was a packaging designer.

The first package, form Tokyo to the US was received on 22 Dec, so I hope by now the second package will have arrived.

I can't remember if you were on the list. I'll have to check my records...

Sorry, I didn't get it out until Monday. New job, school work, holidays..... well you get the idea. I also had planned to send way way way too, when I weighed the package it was over 3lbs.! Shipping's a b.

Anyway, I didn't eat what I received until I had sent out the package. The mushrooms were great. Finished the box much quicker than I would like to admit. As a nod to you father-in-law, the packaging is pretty cool. The mushroom box avoids the phallic similarity, though the snack doesn't. Okay, 'nuff for now on that.

I signed up when it first started, so I hope I'm on it! Just wanted to check it was still going on, as it had gone quiet for a while. Good to hear it's on.

I can't find my list. If you signed up you will be on it. The list was included with the packet and needs to be passed on every time.

With smears, hopefully.

3 Lbs of snacks is too much. It would cost a fortune to post and makes me look mean. You are supposed to spend about £5 or $7.50 max including postage.

If we do this again and I am in Japan, I will send some Melty Kiss and Horn.

Got my package today, thanks to my american sender (Hand of Gork?). I haven't got through all of it yet, but am properly enjoying it. The cheesy dippers are awesome, cracking jelly beans, and the slim jim is mad! It's like a dead peperami, I like it though. The twinkies got a little flattened in the post, but are very uch edible, and I'll be trying out that batter recepie tonight I think. All in all, top stuff!

I'll get my package out ASAP.

Glad you enjoyed it all! The "cheesy dippers" are handi snacks. They were a staple of my childhood lunches. I wish I had a non-christmas themed box of jelly bellys. They have some crazy flavors like buttered popcorn, toast, rootbeer, and all the normal fruit flavors too.

Did you fry the twinkies??

I have to admit to scoffing the twinkies before I got chance to fry them, I really meant to, I did, I just couldn't resist!

My package is all made up, ready for the off, should be in the post tomorrow morning. There's some good stuff in there, I'll try to resist munching it all myself before I post it!

No, you do not need to try vegemite. Trust me.

I did enjoy my parcel, Killkrazy sent some quality snacks and I'm sorry he never got his return. If this happens again I'd be game for another go.

Just thinking about suggesting another attempt today!

And this time I am totally on board. On account I have a technically endless supply of money, so my shocking lack of financial acumen will not stop me!
