Hi, I would like to ask your opinions about some question, better if supported by links or quotes.

Thanks in advance!

1- About Tyranids:
-If a progeny start the turn out of the table (reserves, DR) the turn they get inside they have to roll for instinctive behaviour?

-When Tyranids in range of a synaptic creature lose a combat, they suffer extra wounds as if have fearless or just past the leadership test? (This is just for confirm)

2.- About general rules:

-If an independent character joined to a unit has frag and defensive grenades, and hi is not involved in a assault (because he was too far to reach any enemy model), his grenades are applied to all the unit (friend if they assault, enemy if assaulted)?

-If his yes do reach combat, how this change the previous?

-If hi is a sergeant instead of character, again how this change both of them?

Thanks for your patience and stand my bad English!

They do not roll for IB the turn they come on the board

Yes they suffer No Retreat wounds

No, benefits from grenades are on a model by model basis. So even if the IC gets into combat, that doesn't help the rest of the unit.

Nothing changes that.

Well, thanks for quick reply, it’s a pity you don’t give any further information.

I agree with all of them, except they one involving defensive grenades. Can you explain a little more why they don’t affect if the bearer gets engaged?

Anyway I would appreciate any link or text where anything is clarified.

Thanks a lot

1. Arriving from Reserves, page 94, if a unit has a special rule that would stop it from moving, that rule is ignored. So no IB roll.
Synapse and No Retreat, page 44, Fearless or a special rule that allows it to automatically pass Morale tests, ie synapse. Yes, units in synapse that lose a combat will suffer No Retreat

2. page 36, grenades. models equipped with assault grenades get the benefit. models, not units. so only the model equipped with them gains the benefit.
However, defensive grenades say units equipped with, so that one's a little more up in the air and by RAW would gain the benefits if a single model has them.

Hold on, do Character leading Units still count as a seperate entity in an Assault? If so, and he has Defensive Grenades, then only he would benefit from them. If not, then being part of the unit, they all benefit?

Yes and no and maybe.

For allocation of attacks, hits, wounds etc, an IC that has 'joined' a unit is a separate entity, while an IC with a retinue is merely an upgrade character like a sgt.
So (for ICs joined to a unit) up until you actually start swinging (ie rolling dice), he's just part of the unit. And once you're done with attacks, the IC is part of the unit for combat resolution. I suppose you could argue that only the models attacking an IC joined to a unit would suffer from him having defensive grenades but it seems a bit of a stretch to me.

Doesn't matter to my IG. Either way, we're usually still going last.
