I've stumbled upon AT-43 and think it looks really interesting. I've got about $200 to spend, and planned on getting the starter box. I like the look of the Therians but perhaps it would be best to build up both them and UNA evenly so I can play with friends. Any suggestions on what units I should purchase?

Did you try the AT-43 forums?

I would also hit the FFG sale. They are selling unit boxes for $10

Hit that sale(you can do 2k for ~$100 without trying). For $194.96(Shipping included) you can get:
Starter Set(gives you slightly illegal Storm Golem unit and Wraith Golgoth; if not getting, replace with Wraith Golgoth, Template/Tape Measure Accessory set, and Terrain/Low Wall Accessory set)
Rulebook(you don't get the actual rulebook in the box)
Therian book
Assault Golems+Attachment
Storm Golems + Attachment
Second Storm Golem Attachment for Starter Golems(if not getting starter, replace with Assault Medusas)
Babylon Zero/Nina Zero
Atis-Astarte
Grim golems
Assault Goliaths
Bane Goliaths
Baal Golgoth

That gives you almost every Unit(minus Hekat, Assault Medusas, and a couple heroes) for Therians. If you want to do both Therians and UNA, I'd suggest writing some lists first(Use Easy AT-43), then trial and error the order(they don't tell you shipping until half way through, but always give yourself about $20 for shipping as it's UPS). Move fast on the sale, stuff's been selling out.

QFT, but he stated he was planning on buying it, so threw it in for him. That said, I do own the Starter myself, but that's psuedo-required for Sentinels as we're required to run demos and it's a decent way to introduce people to the basic mechanics.

Out of curiosity, how come? Seems like a good deal - 19 models for $25. That's why I thought it was a no-brainer.

My interest in the game was sparked by the FFG sale, so that's where I intend on making my purchases. The desire for both UNA and Therian stems from the fact that no one else in my game group currently plays and I'd want two armies so I can provide one for my opponent. Just wondering what a pseudo-balanced force for each would comprise. I'm going somewhat off of what the missions at at-43.com indicate are necessary; unfortunately FFG doesn't have Fire Toads on sale.

The Starter is normally $80. At $25 it's a decent deal for everything you get, but that doesn't change the fact that it doesn't come with an actual rule book(the main problem with it). As well, the Storm Golem isn't technically a legal unit:it's 8 models with 2 Special Weapon Bearers, Storm Golems only get 1 Special or 3 Specials at full(9 models, which is why I suggested the second Attachment box). The Steel Troopers, however are a legal full unit(without any Specialists[Medics, etc.]).

If you want both UNA and Therians and still want the Starter, get the Starter, Rule Book, both Army Books then $60 of each army(from a standard book company, ~2000 points):

UNA
Jam TacArm Unit Box
Wing Troopers Unit +Attachment Box
Captain Newton Hero Box
Colonel Stark + Copperhead Hero Box
Either Steel TacArm Unit Box or Steel Trooper Attachment Box for the actual Officer model, plus Medic and Engineer

Therians
Storm Golem Attachment Box
Assault Golem Unit + Attachment Boxes
Bane Goliath Unit Box
Nina Zero/Babylon Zero Hero Box
Sigma Urash Hero Box

You picked the absolute BEST time in the world to buy into this game! ONLY until the 9th!

the Starter kit is still a great buy, but you must buy the rulebook. If you and a friend want to split between UNA and Therians, buy two and exchange. ALSO, buy the template accessory kit.
