Ladies and gentleman, a day I've long feared has finally happened - the day the last of my Citadel Colour Dark Angels Green spray primer cans runs dry.

I have tried, for years, to get a pot of Dark Angels green that will give me a good color in fewer than three coats. I've tried the Vallejo equivalent, and color-matched (as best I could) the same Reaper color - with no success. So I turn to you, loyal readers of Dakka, for suggestions! I have around 3500 points of stripped Ultramarines that still need to be painted DA Green. I refuse to give them all three layers just to get my basecoat. Are there any suggestions for either an aerosol primer that's close to the same color that works, or a paint line that gives solid coats of the dark green in one shade?

Discuss as you see fit! And thank you for any suggestions!

[EDIT: clarified that the spray primer is what ran out. Minor detail that turned out to be absolutely critical!]

Try Orkhide shade from the GW Foundation Paints range. Goes over in one coat and very similar to Dark Angels Green.

Rejoice your salvation is at hand brother.

There is a company called coat 'd arms out there. They made the GW colors for GW they still make the same green in their color range. #111 Dark Elf Green is the name of the current rendition of it.

Thanks to Ozymandias and Capt Vyper; I'll look into both of those as a brush-on solution. In reading, though, I realized I've left out one very important detail up above: the can that went dry was the spray primer, not actual paint. Are there any companies that make the spray primer, or a comparable one?

Sort of depends on home much you want to spend. BUT While I was living in IL. I had a friend who took an odd paint color to Home Depot. They color matched the paint and were able to get in spray cans. Not sure of the details, he did say it was not cheap but that he needed the paint in a can to do is project. So check round your local hard ware stores who do paint matching and see if they can do it in a spray can.
