This happens to me almost every time i use GS i finish my work but i still have a blob of putty lying unused, my question to you is what do you do with it? I usually make sandbags as detailed in WD 327

I usually don't have much left, maybe about the size of a BB or pellet at most. I still collect them along w/ all the other clippings and flash related stuff that accumulates. Eventually it'll all be debris on a terrain piece.

I usually form it into a block and save it for carving up later. At the very least, it'll make for some nice basing.

I make plants

I take any extra I end up with (not usually much, I typically underestimate how much I will need anyway) and throw it into my purity seal GS press molds... you can always use more purity seals.

I haven't started using GS yet but I'm sure if I had a little left over, I would surly make hats for my nids.

I make little rocks for my mini bases.

BFG tyranid ordnance craft
beaked eel shaped boarding torpedoes
manta shaped assault boats

I model spikes of various shapes and sizes and believe me they are very usefull.

P4nc4k3 make the wall higher so it actually gives a cover save!!!

I usually make a small rolls of sausage and make some poop out of them. I've never seen a WC in 40k - have you?

I've never had any left over, mostly because I rarely use green stuff, but if I did, I would most likely also make poop out of it. I still have most of the roll of green stuff that I bought in 1994.

Forget Sandbags Im doing that from now on!!! also I haven't seen a WC in 40K but I have seen one in Fantasy, it was on a giants base to imply he had just stepped on it, there was even a lil guy running out of it! It used to be on the GW site but I cannot find it

Stick the leftovers on bases to make little hills and rolls in the terrain. Looks better than everything being totally flat.

I generally just keep a few extra bases laying around, and any leftover putty goes straight onto them.

I have a selection of simple push type molds.
Consoles, imperial eagles (most come out cracked),
stuff from tank accessory sprues.

I take a good long look at it.

I am getting good at making sure I dont waste green stuff.

Milliput is used far more often and I am generous with the amount I mix. I try to 'batch' work that I need doing, when I mix up some i make enough for my needs and if there is enough left over open up my cupboard and get something half completed out that needs it.

I make little smiley heads that I leave on my wife's computer monitor. She finds it funny.

I usually throw it out...

I buy rocks for basing and buy plastic sangbags.

See if anything needs 'filling in', or debris. Like the contouring bases idea and will nick that and the spikes and hat ideas.

For awhile I was trying to sculpt a greater deamon with leftovers GS, but it wound up looking like pants, so I have a giant GS stick with a wire frame that is where most of my extra GS has gone for the last 6 months or so.

Why did I never think of making hats?!

I usually just fill in gaps on other models, or make rocks.

I make mushroom. I love to have colorfull mushroom on my bases. And it's not that hard to do

I eat it....

Gotta love the hat method!

I dont use much GS but any left over definatlly goes for more detail on my bases.

Im thinking of Converting a Helicopter for my guard so I have started saving up spare bits of GS while i make some designs.
Some pics I got off google are inspiring me.
