Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

We all know what is coming but some observations anyway. This info is not exhaustive.

Battlewagon.

1. The 'ard case is NOT the base for the large turret. The base of the large turret fits onto the hardcase and is also set to fit over the front half of the battlewagon. Thus you can position a kilkanon in one of two places.

2. The grabber claw is sharp sided, a shear rather than clasp. Thus you can replace a deffdreds ccw with it with next to no conversion work.

3. the large turret has two gun options, one an obvious energy weapon the other a ballistic weapon. it appears that the ballistic weapon represents a kanon or a kilkanon probably depending on what size turret you put it in.

4. There is NO deffrolla. I didnt see a lobba either, but cannot confirm its ommission.

5. The baseplate for the large turret and all the small turret ring add ons have a deep snug fit. It appears that the battlewagon is deliberately built for instant kustomisation. The 'ard case grabber claw and various weapons options are interchangable, and in general stay on once on.

Nobz

1. You get four big choppas in the set. Big choppas tend to have double sided chainblades, so the old 'big choppa' on the old metal warboss is now a standard choppa. All are also clearly two handed weapons. one is held single handed and is posed to be resting on the orks shoulder, the matching arm is raised in a clenched fist.

2. There are three klaws in the boxset. With different combinations of blade sizes some have only a single pair of opposing blades. Two of the klaws are left handed, one right. The opposing blades are very similar to those with other klaw sets, with a 'uinversal fitting' so the klaws can likely be assembled in varied order.

3. Other interesting weapons include a circular saw cybork arm and a pneumatic drill cybork arm. Both are about the right size for conversion material to give kans a better choice of weapons.

4. The cybork heads have exhaust stacks added to the cranium and look particularly mad.

5. There are six bosspoles one skull head (dethskulls?) one bovine skull (Goffs?) one with a squig on top, one crossed bones, one with a jagged saw top and one with four optional distinct klan toppers for bad moons, evil suns, snakebites and blood axes. There is no 'urty banner, though it will be easy to make one yourself.

6. There is one ammo runt dragging an ammo box.

7. There is NO painboy model or painboy parts in the kit.

8. There is NO Waaargh! banner.

9. There are ten regular nob heads, plus the two cybork heads. There are five nob bodies which assemble in the same manner as ogre bodies, with a seperate front chest piece. These chest pieces are interchangable so you will get good variety between multiple boxsets.

10. There are five sets of choppa and slugga, GW seem to think people will want thedefault option, two kombi-rokkits and one kombi-skorcha, IIRC no twin linked shoota (there is one on the boyz sprue though).

Gretchin.

1. The slaver has multiple weapon options and a squig reminiscent of the gobbo hero miniture in skull pass. There are good bits here.

2. The gretchin box is small, tightly packed with grots. The grots are NOT multipose kits. Three of the grots are complete models on the sprue, the other seven are complete except for their heads, there are about 8-10 heads to go around. The classic grot poses are present.

Stormboyz

1. I didnt like the rokkit packs, in my mind they looked too busy. They are a mess of detail and detract from the ork. The orks are nice though.

2. One thing to mention is the ammo runt. He is not a grot hanging on to a stormboy nob, but flies around on his own. There is a single piece grot body, holding a stikkbomm, a seperate head and his own seperate little jump pack.

Solid Gold. That alone makes the kit worthwhile!

aye the guy at my local GW has built the grot and gave him his own base etc, he is now painted in blue and red and super grot is his name,

the manager got a bit annoyed as everyone was more interested in the grot than the storm boyz, safe to say when i play in store he is now my objective marker/lucky mascot

What I loved most about the Stormboyz was the guy who's rokkit is actually being piloted by a grot

Sounds pretty smart. Why waste important brain-power piloting when there's so little to go around and you'd rather be hitting people?

The new plastic stormboyz look awesome. It seemed like when the new ork codex came out the Stormboyz were the most popular FA option due to the speed and the ability to sweeping advance into a new squad. Does GW take into account the sales (stormboyz bitz) in determing what plastics they are making? Or were the plastic stormboyz in the process of being developed well before the release of the new ork codex?

When I saw the Battlewagon yesterday, they had a squad of Stormboyz built as well. They were really very busy - they simply cry out to be painted. In plastic grey they were not nice models. Once painted they look great.

No sign of Rokkit Grot though. I wish they'd had him there...

All sounds very cool. I shall be ready to expand my new Orks to a 1000pts by January, so the Nobz set will be a compulsory purchase.

Shame you can't do everything with the Battlewagon kit, but they might do a Deffrolla variant. Look at all the bloody Land Raider variants we have now (sigh!).

Orlanth... on the Nob sprue.. there is evidently Painboy bits.. can you describe any you saw, or that made an impression?

I am wondering if the drill arm is part of that partset..

Dagnabit! The GW page for the Nobz Box SAYS it has Painboy parts, as well as 40mm bases..

"Additonally there are a host of extra components to allow you to further customise your squad, including parts to upgrade one of your Nobz to a Painboy and a Grot ammo runt. Models supplied with 40mm round bases."

I was really hoping that was true..

They might have been refering to the buzz saw arm. Some Painboy models around at the moment have this kind of bionic. Add a bionik head and all you need is something that looks like an 'Urty Syringe... which won't be on the sprue inorder to be annoying

Can you clarify what you mean by boyz sprue? I'm pretty sure the regular boyz sprue doesn't have a twin linked shoota. The only plastic twin shoota I'm aware of at all is the one for the warboss from the Black Reach boxed set.

There is no such thing as a twin linked slugga. So if you want it as a twin linked shoota held one handed so be it, it wont even be a 'counts as'. There are plenty of opportunities to take those.

That means I can't use the upper bodies to build Nob bikers the right way. Damn it, even with such a nice kit, GW manages to screw me at some point

I'm not familiar with the ogre bodies. I also had the idea to make my nobz biker bodies out of the Nobz kit. The legs are not separate from the torsos? Is it easy to separate the body from the legs and stick on bike legs?

Well, you could still do it, you'd just burn the entire kit to do so. Build a nob (chest and body piece) then lop him in half! I'm strongly considering doing exactly that, though it'll get a bit pricey.

Sounds like my Stormboy Nob's attack squig

I properly saw and held and touched and fiddled with a Battlewagon yesterday in my local GW. It's tiny. Like, just no way big enough. Half the width of a Land Raider and maybe a smidge longer. I'll be biggerizing mine with multiple kits and Trukk parts.

Sounds good to me. I've always thought that the land raider based models were way too big, and hefty. Really it's just a big truck with a nice cannon it. It's not a tank in a traditional sense of the word.
