Hello guys,

Warning! Lots of awesome photos!

Myself and a friend have started a small enterprise. He sculpts shoulder pads for chapters that you never see, making shoulder pads for (as well as many custom designs) and we have them cast in pewter!
We have done our research and spoken to lawyers and stayed away from direct copies of GW Intellectual Property. That is why you wont see GW Salamander Icons or direct reproductions on our work. So we are legit and plan to stay that way!
These are pewter and the rhino parts are resin.
These are not identical to any published icons out there, a bit generic, but similiar that you should be able to use them with little problem.

Prices:
$1.00 for any pads (if you buy 50 or more of a type you get them for .85 each)
$17.50 for rhino kits
1.50 for the salamander Hammer or Powerclaw..

Notice we have Terminator and Power Armor pads for each type

We have a Salamander head or dragon head, its very 3D and sells well:
Power Armor Pad

Terminator Pad

Captain or Character Terminator Pad:

Smooth Scale Mosaic Salamander or Dragon Pads:
Power Armor Pad

Terminator Pad

Salamander Hammer and Power Claw:

Salamander or dragon armor and door kit for Rhino, pictures available upon request

Next up is our newer snake or Iron Snakes shoulder pad line, weve taken the greek idea and added chains on the edges of the pads, available in terminator or power armor size:
Terminator A

Terminator B

Power armor

Last but not least is our Chalice pad that can be used as Soul Drinkers or even Blood Angels second founding chapter, again available in terminator or power armor size:

Power armor on the left, terminator on the right

StarFox or Space Wolf founding, available in terminator or power armor size:
Terminator

Power Armor

An "I" pad that can be used as the Squad 1 or "I" for imperial or inquisition, only available in power armor size:

Deathwatch or Dark Angel type pads, with lots of small detail - power armor:

We can do custom designs, but there is a cost for the time to sculpt and mold creation.
Anyone serious about custom chapter pads, you can expect to spend about $130 for the sculpting, the mold making and then you have to pay for the pads themselves.

Please feel free to email me with any questions and order request- droppods@verizon.net

Thanks!

Nick

I would personally like to see raw unpainted cast pictures... I could be tempted by a few chalice pads, the I pads, and the last one for decorative bits...

Those are quite nice, and I suppose generic symbols wouldn't be off limits, like, say, the cross used by the Iron Knights Chapter.

Yeah, for the most part anything generic or used in history shouldnt be off limits. There is alot of dispute on some items, The Chaos Symbol, was created by Michael Moorcock and is currently being used by GW without permission. We try to stay away from those issues.

Having a pad created is not alot of trouble if you can handle the 100$ or so needed to get it done, then you will get cheap pads after that since you were the initial customer. If you pay the cost to create the pad we can provide them to you for .50 each.

Heck yeah we are still selling.

It is a crazy time, we are (I am) trying to get our webstore up and going - chapterhousestudios.com, you can see the work in progress there. We have a completely new sculpt special character being molded now along with storm shields, drop pod armor panels and jump packs..

Its nuts, to say the least. If anyone wants a email catalogue sent to them, email me at droppods@verizon.net and sales@chapterhousestudio.com. We sell in bulk and offer a discount on some of our items if you do so.

Feel free to post if you like our stuff (anyone volunteer to showcase our stuff at other forums, ill send some freebies on your next order).

Warning! Lots of awesome photos!

P.S. I am looking for some Space Marine Scout Missile Launcher minis if you want to trade!

Attention - The Eagle Shields, Salamander Shields, a dragon special character, and Salamander Jumppacks (same as the Chaplain has) are now being cast and will be ready to ship in 2 weeks, preorder now!

New special character is pictured below, a totally original sculpt from greenstuff. He can be used as lots of things, he is painted in Salamander colors. There is a good chance it will be in pewter, does not include hammer in right hand or base.

Our upcoming Shield Line - fit fantasy or Space Marine size figures (will be 1.50 each)

Eagle Shields (great for High Elves):

Very nice! Incredbile molds! I will certaintly look out for these. Must save up some money now... I have a falconry based W.I.P SM Chapter, and I have a 10 man squad of assault terminators to assemble/paint. Those Eagle shields will look fantastic on them! I shall hopefully be dropping an order in the naer future.

P.S Do you ship to the U.K?

Yep, normally US shipping is a flat 5.00$ (unless you order a ton of metal bits), UK runs about 8.00 usually.

I appreciate the compliments, its been slow lately as I think we have reached our saturation point on ebay and now the rest will rely on the webstore and good word of mouth (site like this and bartertown (we advertise there) help.).

The more we are exposed on other forums (Warseer, BnC) the more money we will pull in and the more capital for new molds and sculptor pay.

My sculptor and I are committed to the company succeeding, we've been building the company since march of last year and have yet to get payed anything (except some nice bits). So far we are in the black though in company funds and that is pretty nice. Still, a payday some day will be nice, LOL.

We love to see other peoples ideas and love to sculpt them if we find there is a good demand for them. We keep getting request for Iron Hands, but that's a touchy Icon as GW did one already so how do you do pads when there are already pads out there and still have them work with the Icon Fluff without copying the originals?

We run into that all the time, tons of request for Ultramarines, but its hard to make a sellable item when you cant copy someone elses IP...

Feel free to email me whenever you want to talk about sculpts or ideas though. We are currently looking for freelance sketchers for new ideas as well as a sculptor...

Sincerely,
Nick

I'm not involved in many wargaming sites unfourtunatly, jus this one and another named Ammo Bunker. I'll put in a good word for you there when I can, and I also believe that one of the staff at my Local GW was doing an Iron Snakes Chapter... Next time I go in, I'll ask to see if he's still doing it, and give him your e-mail if he's interested.

Not if GW see it, there's not.

You might fly under their radar for a while doing add-on bits, although if you're promoting them specifically as ad-ons for 40K you will most likely hear from them at some point.

But start casting Space Marines and they'll be on you like a rash.

Not trying to be overly negative, but you would be far better off taking a look around at other companies selling compatible add-on parts for GW minis and noting what they're doing. Namely, not actually stating anywhere that the parts are made for GW minis, not using GW's names or trademarks on anything, and just promoting them as 'generic parts for 28mm miniatures'

People can figure it out from there. It might not get you as much initial interest, but it will help keep GW's legal team off your back.

insaniak,

Im not sure GW has a legal right to tell people they cant sculpt new miniatures that look like their stuff. Ive consulted with 2 lawyers, and they have told me that if we have proof that the sculpts are new and not GW minis with GS on them, our figure is just another sci-fi super soldier.

Granted, we may not be able to list him as a chaplain or space marine on the site, but there is nothing wrong with calling him a special character - dragon cult leader.

Ive tried to do as much research as possible, and what gives me credence is sites like www.americanmuscle.com. They sell Mustang custom aftermarket parts, and use Mustang all over thier website. Ford is a much bigger company then GW, so if that website can use "Mustang" to describe thier car parts, I think we are ok with "Space Marine".

Anyways, thanks for your concern, we already have a hefty legal fund waiting if needed.

Sincerely,
Nick

Selling a mini that is clearly a space marine is profiting from the use of Games Workshop's intellectual property, which their legal team is famously rabid in defending. Have you ever noticed the little legal disclaimer at the bottom of every 40k website ever made? It's there for a reason.

Honestly,

GW has a record of bully tactics and stealing other IP and claiming it as their own, research Michael Moorcocks Chaos Icon if you want proof.

In any case, this is what I pay my IP attorney for and I recommend anyone to talk to one of those professionals before talking IP talk. (I am astounded to the number of gamers who think they know IP law.)

That is not to mention, we havent decided to sell the special character or offer it as a freebie to loyal customers.

I don't profess to know all the ins and outs of IP law (although I've made an effort to learn at least the basics, as it's kind of important to what I do)... but I have seen quite a few companies over the years try to go down a similar road. The outcome is rather predictable by now.

But, I wasn't aiming to derail the thread, just offer a heads up. It's your business. Good luck with it.

In my sort time doing research on GW. I've come to the conclusion that if you don't want them to steal it. Then don't make it. As they seem to come out of the woodwork the moment they see anything that might make them money. Then sue sue sue and her sister jill. Till they own it. Claiming it was theirs from the start. As well as any future thoughts you might think you have later. So do they have the law on their side? Well yes most of the time and the rest of the time they bend it and break it till its on their side.

Ah well,

Our aim is to create and sell affordable alternatives to what is out there or not being made. We will do it legally with the law on our side.

Please let us know if there is anything you want us to do, and sketches are great for that. We are going to make pre-heresy style shoulder pads for terminators soon as well.

Now don't get me wrong. Your aim is worthy. I have no doubt you are legit. That said your work is by far some of the best i have ever seen. Your skill is god like. Now that your IP is will documented i hope you and yours never give into the darkness that is GW. It just seems they will stop at nothing less the the blood of others. IMO i believe with all my heart that GW has killed one of the main hobby parts of making your own troops. By their greed to have it all. So keep the fight strong, and if you have time find a way to sue sue sue and her sister jill GW.

Insaniak, if GW went after Chapterhouse for doing something similar to their models, they'd shut poor Felix Paniagua down.

Shoot his current orcs look exactly like the ones he sculpted while at GW..

I actually thinks it's great that people are sculpting their own models and selling them to those of us who can't sculpt.

Power to the wee people and companies

Really, what spurned us into action was the total lack of Salamander love from GW and the rediculous cost of thier GW and FW bits, we are trying to do better and a bit cheaper for you guys!

I, for one, would like to see a bit of "space elf" love...

All these sci-fi super soldier add-ons make me and my dinosaur-riding space elfs jealous!

If you'd consider sculpting a space elf shaman/wizard/robed-leader in a bike- or dinosaur- riding pose (or any other space elf for that matter), let me know!
