i am getting a small army of sisters models through the swap shop, and trades with friends. and i am looking for some pointers before i start playing them.
because i like to models for them, i was planning of fielding 2 units of serphim, giving both superiors an evisarator.
taking the living Saint as one HQ to lead one unit, and give a conness a jump pack and other oddes and ends to lead the other unit.
i also know that that crazy pipe organ tank is cool, and the sisters devisator squad with AP 1 (on a roll of 6, and if the faith power works) heavy bolters are amazing.
but other then that, i really dont know my from a hole in the ground when it comes to SOB's
and i am looking for some pointers before i dive into a pool with no water.

The biggest question you have to ask yourself as a budding sisters player is do you want to go mechanized or foot. The basic sisters squad is one of the best troop choices in the game. I personally prefer mech sisters but it is definitely a matter of personal taste.
You want at least 3 to 4 squads of sisters. Depending on if you have them on foot or not will determine your special weapon options.
On the seraphim I wouldn't bother with the inferno pistols, go with the hand flamers.
Just a note to remember, if your canoness joins a seraphim squad then it cannot hit and run.
If you are going to play with exorcists always buy 2.
Retributor heavy bolters are really good, not too many people use the multi-melta retributors.

allready got some of the models for the heavy bolter squad. not looking forward to shelling out $100 for those pipe organs though.
i didnet know that little tidbit about the cannones though, that changes my plans. if the living saint is with them they can still hit and run right?
i love tanks, and want to go full mech. but as of now, plans are to start with foot sloggin for 1k.. to take it up to 1500 or 1850 ill mech it out.
what is a good number of sisters to have in one squad? i konw that they can get up to 20... but i think that might be a bit overkill. unless they get into rapid fire range and can make thier bolters AP 1 on a wound roll of 6.
now i had allways assumed that the flamer was the weapon of choice for sisters. is thier a reason to give up that template in order to gain such a short ranged anti tank gun?

Living saint comes with hit and run so you are fine there.
If you don't want to shell out for the pipe organs, and like me you just don't like the model I would recommend converting your own. You can buy an immolator and a whirlwind kit and do a rather nice conversion, and also end up with a rhino for your battle sisters squad.
I don't run foot very often, but normally you want about 13-16 in the unit so they can suffer some casualties as they run across the board.
Most people that run foot lists go with the melta's for tank punch. It's very hard for a foot slogging unit to get into flamer range.
Since you want to run the seraphim I would leave them with the flamers and give your line squads melta guns.
Eventually when you transition to more of a mech list I would transition the battle sisters to flamer, heavy flamer and put the melta's in celestians or dominion squads.

I usually don't run Celestine, but otherwise I field a foot slogging force.
Generally at 2000 points my list is :
1 Cannoness, Inferno Pistol, Jump Pack, Blessed Weapon
Inquisitor w/2xHB Servitors, Plasma Servitor, 2 sages
8 Celestians with HFlamer, Melta, Power Sword Vet in Rhino
2x 10 Sisters with Vet, Eviscerator, 2x melta
1x13 Sisters with Storm Bolters and Vet
6 Girl Retrib squad with 3 HB
2 Exorcists
1 6 Seraphim Squad with Eviserator, 2xflamer
1 7 Seraphim squad with power weapon 2xflamer
1 Dominion Squad with 3 flamers, 1 melta, immolator
Callidus
I might be a little off on the points since I haven't played them for a while, but that is usually the gist. The seraphim with hit and run is huge, as they make great units to fly up, burn the hell out of something, then hold it still in assault for one turn. At the end of your opponant's turn you hit and run towards their backfield to get attacks on tanks/artillery (essentially getting a 21"-51" assault range) and rapid fire the suddenly seraphimless unit to death.
Granted, I haven't played the army a lot in 5th, but with that much faith and 3+ save bodies, I have had a lot of luck with it.
Unfortunately, the Repentia and Penitent Engines I love so much are pretty mediocre, as are most of the "freak show" units in the codex.
All of the assassins are still good, though supporting the main assassins with Death Cults is much more important than it used to be. The Vindicare is still a bit over priced, and the Callidus tends to die fairly fast and be unsupportable, so use them carefully.

I really like the EA bake oven list:
Cannones with evicerator, book of Saint Lucius, 2+ armor, latinies of faith and brazier
5 X 10 SOBs, 1 hvy flamer. 1 melta gun, vet sis with book of st. lucius, combi flamer, rhino, exra armor, smoke
(note sometimes I take two flamers of a brazier and a PW or evicerator on the vet)
I've also had a lot of luck with celestians and eviceaor with the cannoness in a rhino or dominions with 4 flamers in a rhino. I also like a small sqaud of celstians deepstriking with melta or a larger squad with flamers and an evicerator.
All that said though, the mass troops seems to be the best even if it's a bit cut and paste. Also a pyschic hood goes a long way, as does a callidus if you get first turn.
Finally if you aren't married to a pure SOB list the best way I've found to run them is with Vulkan as allies to a Space amrien list.
Re rolling flamers and meltas is disgusting with sobs as are the re roll thunder hammer termies.
A sample army would look something like this
Vulkan
Cannoness w/ 9 SOBs with goodies in a rhino
2 Drop pod Sm squads with meltas
8 termies thunder hammer storm shield in a crusader
10 dominions in rhino with 4 flamers

i have the dex on order... but the wait is killing me. i have been told to never give the caoness a body guard squad. keep her solo so she can join other units. and leave them if they become to week. i will be buying / trading for the vindicare and calasius assassins. i know i can only use one, but i like the rules for the cally, and the fluff for the vind. i have to use an inquisitor in one eliet slot, and the assassin in another right?? that hurts a bit. but i think i can mannage. that gives me enough room to field that dominion squad with 4 flamers. how well dose guard work with sisters?? orrgionaly i was going to take a platoon just for the lascannons, and mabey some sentinals for a few more... not to mention i could get that AV 12 transport for my sisters to use.

Love the heavy bolter squad dump faith points into them and make them rending all game long. don't buy repentia or Penatent engines, cool models good fluff but worthless game wise. Exsorcists are awsome and nessisary as it's the sisters only long range anti tank. Yes you can have an Elite inquisitor and an assassin Arco's are pretty cool and have some mad counter charge ability just don't expect them to survive their first target so make it worth it. Celestine is a tough call as far as playability, she's really not much more useful than a decked out Cannonese and her only benefit is the coming back onto the table but she has to deepstrike and is an assault unit so she's more than likely to just get shot to death again before being useful. Also she will more often than not Take faith points away from your army. Give your 3 but take D6 so the only time you gain faith points for her is when you role a 1-2. Compare that to a cannones who gives you 2 to start and another 2 when she dies. Of course she's really Cool....and i have bought on my self but just looking at the numbers i can't bring myself to play her.

ewwwww she takes away D6 faith points.... well, looks like she will be goin on the shelf then. so far i have the living saint 1 canoness on foot 2 inquisitors (one with inferno pistol, one wiht plasma pistol) 3 sister superiors on foot (1 with plasma pistol, one with i forgot what, one that used to have a plasma pistol) 30 SOB on foot with bolters 3 on foot with storm bolters 5 on foot with flamer 3 on foot with melta 2 heavy bolter (plan on buying more) 1 multi melat 1 immolater hull with out a turret not sure how meny serphim as i have to pick them up form a friend.... but i would say between 10 and 15, with 2 hand flamers, and a superior or 2. 2 sister repenta (i got these so i could hack off that evicerator and put it on models that i will use) i actualy really like the model for the pipe organs, and want to get it eventualy. but for now, my buddys whrilwind turrets will do. what weapons do you think i should take on my superiors on foot... bolt pistol and CC, or just give em a bolter... combi flamers sounds a bit expensive for a one shot deal.

Foot slogging Sisters isn't efficient. Sisters are best used up close and shooting. Take advantage of their Heavy Flamers and divine guidance. I suggest going all mech.
I myself run 2 different configurations for my Sisters of Battle squad.
Configuration A: Veteran Sister Supeior + 9 Sisters of Battle, Book of St. Lucius, combi-flamer, meltagun, heavy flamer, rhino, extra armour, smoke
Configuration B: Veteran Sister Supeior + 9 Sisters of Battle, Book of St. Lucius, combi-flamer, flamer, heavy flamer, rhino, extra armour, smoke
My Canoness is usually equipped with Blessed Weapon, Book of St. Lucius, and usually joins a seperate force of 5X Celestians with 2 meltaguns in an Immolator.

saraphim rape if you take a priest to give your sarphim holy rage. also take the 1 inquisitor (the huge guy with like 5 wounds and a 2+ save) and give him a retinue so his save become invulnerable

Priest doesn't have a jump pack. Priests doesn't give holy rage, he gives Fanatical and Righteous Fury. Priests + Seraphim is probably the worst thing you could ever do. You would be restriting Seraphims' key abilities in being jump infantry and hit + run. Priests are better off joining Repentias.
Inquisitor Karamazov can't purchase any henchmen other then his current ones (Lexmechanic and executor servitor). And he already has a Rosarius meaning he already has a +4 invulnerable save.

Witchhunters can include allied space marines as long as you don't bring any sister of battle......so whats the point, you can however bring sisters in a space marine army without that restriction.......which is pretty stupid.

If you make Space Marines the "parent list" you could ally Sisters of Battle with Space Marines using the restriction chart on page 25 of the Witch hunter codex.
And with those restriction, you could have 2 SoB units in rhinos, Canoness and Celetians in an Immolator, all supported by Space Marine Drop Pods, Bikes, Assault Marines, or Vindicator.
Sisters are the way to go for anti-infantry and Space Marines fill in the weakness of Sister army with assault support and long range weapon support.

If you were going to run Sisters in a Marine list, I would run 2 librarians with the teleport power and attach them to 2 20-person sister squads... Teleport up and flame on. True, you can't use acts of faith because you have the librarian attached, but it does give you a good way to get 40 sisters across the board quickly and if you're choosing your targets right, a potential 80 bolter shots can put a serious dent in whatever you want.
those 2 squads only cost about 550 points combined. I have no idea what the librarian costs.

You could have the librarian run away from the squad then have the sisters open fire with faith. Of course this leaves your librarian open to fire albeit with a 4+ cover save

By buddy plays sisters and he took a whirlwind and wrapped the missile rack with tubes. Apparently that is an alternate form (forge world?) of an excorcist. Definately take 2. Taking 3 often brings cries of cheese.
