Hello,

Here's what I'm working on for my Eldar army...

Speed painted (for me at least - I am a slow painter!) jetbikes:

Jetbike bases:

Maugan Ra:

And the Avatar:

The entire Eldar army is pretty much cheap ebay stuff.

Jetbikes were bought cheap off ebay in poor painted condition with some broken bits.

Maugan Ra was bought from there new in blister, and the Avatar was bought painted, but I am redoing him.

I dunno...

I'm really liking the look of Maugan Ra, very nice effect. Maybe a brown or black glaze to tone down the slight chalkiness

Just the bone areas are going to be in white - but I may put an ink or glaze over the top after if it looks to light at the end.

Have now put purple ink onto his loin robe - playing around for a different effect of keeping him dark but having some colour on there.

Thanks!

Nice job, more power to you for keeping the paint scheme uniform. Something I certainly have trouble doing...

Hi

Finished off my DA squad for first visit to a gaming club on the Sunday:

and looking to complete my pathfinders squad for Sunday to take too:

Hopefully, rocking up with a fully painted army I won't be faced with grey death!

;-)

If I get these done early, I'll aim to build and paint a second falcon to take too.

Cheers

Great work on Maugan Ra, really loving the paintwork there.

It's such a classic mini and a really strong sculpt.

Fantastic bone work!

Really nice to see the old Classic Eldar sculpts in with this army they are some of my favourites.

Thanks...

Will hopefully get some time tonight to do some more work on them (have a 10:15 game of basketball which is a horrible time to go out and get your body working hard!)

Standing right behind you...

You still have all those old 3rd Ed Eldar?
Whilst the painting looks good I think that Maugan Ra is a bit too shiny, intended perhaps?

I like all of the models so far, especially Maugan Ra and i see you have put varnish on him, right?

Yes - I like the tactile feel of playing with glossed figures, plus they are much more resilient.

Just got back from basketball, sweating like a pig playing in 26 degrees C at 10:15 at night - 70% humidity!

Once I'm cooled down and showered, will work some more on my rangers.

Funny thing is, I don't think I'll use Maugan Ra in a game - unless it is as a Dark Reaper exarch.

I prefer to have solid support for my troops with the Avatar as the main HQ and dependant upon points, a farseer or Elrad.

2 x 20 Guardian units with bright lance to help devour enemy mech within 12" of the Avatar is the plan for my army's anvil.

Cheers

If you get fed up with the gloss varnish you can always give it a quick coat of Dullcoat to take away the shine.

I'm not too much of a fan of gloss varnish coats but sometimes they work well, In this case I think it gives an eiree and ominous look to Maugan Ra's weapon. Slick with the gore of this foes, he does after all have a huge power scythe on the end of that Shuriken Cannon

Hello all

Have finished with the rangers now:

Quite happy with how they turned out - should go well.

Also my son (12) was trying out some new techniques of making wounds look gory with this old space crusade scout:

Yay!

I agree, though I go with semi-gloss.

Your son has a sweet old scout model! And he paints well for 12, that is when I started painting and he is far better than I was at that age.

Thanks guys

He loves it when he gets some feedback/comments too.

They eyes on the scout are very Marilyn Manson.
