hey all.
pretty much i'm just wondering if they work well
together? i'm wanting to do regular IG with the
different heads, not renegades. do the pig iron
heads look too "rough" compaired to the GW plastics
is my main concern.
thanks for any input.

Yes, they work well. I have an entire army modeled like this (which i hopefully will have pics of next week) and I can say that the end result looks good.

I use the HD.7 Heavy infantry visored helms for my Inquisiton storm troopers, and they look great.
They're fine for guard plastics, but a little small for marines.

The arms are a huge pain in the ass. I kinda stopped after making ~7-8 figs and went to using Krieg (eh, laziness and had giftcards) instead.
The problem with the arms is not only do you have to get them to hold the lasgun, but you need to carve the edges into rounded nubs to fit into the Bret sleeves. I tell you, Dave Taylor was a beast making at least a hundred of these. But, we already knew that.

Here are some pics of the kolony militia head on a relatively stock cadian body, unfortunately I'm out a camera atm or I would get you some painted pics.
Hope that helps!

You can lop off the arms at the shoulders, file them and replace with with Cadian arms, you can also get the bret arms to hold catachan las guns (or cadian guns that aren't molded to arms).

"The arms are a huge pain in the ass."
thanks for the heads up on that!
i just ordered
some pig iron heads from Rattlehead games.
has anyone ever ordered from them? they
were selling the head sets for $.99 less per set
than the War store was. and only $3.95 for s/h
wasn't too bad either.

Thats where I got my sets from although at the time they were the same price as everywhere else and after ordering I was informed that they were partially out of stock. Suffice to say it took a few weeks for me to receive my order but their staff was very friendly and upfront about the delays.

@KK
"You can lop off the arms at the shoulders, file them and replace with with Cadian arms"
sounds a little labor intensive, but i bet would look great with the armor plates on the
Cadian arms. i'd probably try the second way first given my lazy ways!
@0079
they sent me an email at like 11:00 last night (20 -30 min. after i ordered),
saying thanks and the order will ship out on Monday morning. great product
prices, good S/H charges and promised fast shipping. i'm waiting for the other
shoe to drop...
has anyone tried the Heavy Infantry Visored Helmet Sprues?
these are the above mentioned:

I second both the hasslefree packs and the pigiron heads.
the packs make for great replacement packs for my seraphim and the heads are perfect for my Helghast painted cadians.
I just wish I could buy more urban basing kits.

Yeah, at a Virgina RTT back in July my Tallarns got wasted by a drop troop plastic Cadian army featuring pig iron gas mask helmets. Those models looked gorgeous as they blew apart my tanks.

the helmet less heads look awesome on the renegade stuff.
i liked yours alot.

do those heads seem too small for the Cadian torsos?
i like the ones you pic'd, but are they labor intensive?

They shouldnt do, check the pic I posted, the only difference is the visor, the helm is the same.

You might need to trim the neck a little bit so the helmet almost rests on the shoulders.
I also made a convertion using gas masks and cadian clip on figures but the gas mask head is a little bit rounder.

Drop Troops done with West Wind heads for much the same result. Pig Iron and West Wind heads solve the biggest problem with GW's plastic Cadians as the excellent models above show. I'm really tempted to try something with Brettonian bodies and Pig Iron heads, perhaps a Necromunda gang.
