Using some old modelling clay and an even older CD, I made a sandbag emplacement for a Heavy Weapons team. I used a magnetic paint undercoat so the magnetized minis would stay in place while they were on it.

Method used: Terrain on CD

This seems to be the common piece of advice... My first try at it, the sandbags were about 2 to 3 times larger than the ones pictured here. I will keep your advice in mind on the next one.

This advice comes from experience putting down lots of sandbags in real life. The best sandbags are actually only half filled and laid in an overlapping pattern. If you have the luxury, you use a wooden mallet to flatten the sandbags so that they're really tightly interlocked.
