Anyway, I don't believe that they actually do. It seems as if people who would be
obsessed with them have unrealistic expectations to begin with and thus watch
films that match those beliefs. Perhaps they reinforce them, but they do not
actually create the expectations.
Let's call this one chicken and egg?
That's why I laugh when people scoff at the verisimilitude of kung fu, science
fiction and fantasy films. In order to enjoy anything, you have to suspend your
belief that all these things would happen to these characters under this specially crafted
set of circumstances altogether.
