Did you wrote too many words? Because if I remove all the ones that shouldn't be there, I find “I think his practices in this area is appropriate to the spread of anti-American ideology.”, and this makes perfect sense!

Still reassuring to know that the current POTUS is too fething dumb to be able to watch TV and correctly reference that the next day.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

I read this and was reminded of a picture that's been making its way across the tweeters for a while, dating from 1949.

Spoiler:

I didn't mention race, religion, or national origin, but you did. I only mentioned terrorism and the spread of anti-American ideology. Why should we want terrorists or individuals with anti-American ideologies to immigrate here? It seems to me those are precisely the individuals we would not want immigrating to our country.

Why would a person with anti-American ideology want to immigrate here, and why would an anti-American terrorist announce themselves when they try to sneak in?

Donal Trump's conception of protecting America is to swing a sledgehammer (extreme sledgehammer?) when we need a scalpel.

As for the first question, I can imagine someone with an anti-American ideology coming here for the pure economic opportunity. For the second question, I only think a terrorist would announce themselves as such if they were very foolish.

I don not disagree with your concluding statement.

For what it's worth, anyone who voted for a Republican on the basis of "Repeal Obamacare" and doesn't know that they're getting their current insurance only because of the Affordable Care Act(read: "Obamacare") should have their voting rights stripped from them.

In other words, if you don't vote how I want you to, I'm willing to strip you of your rights as a US citizen.

In other words, if you are an uninformed voter who made literally zero attempt to inform yourself, you lose your right to vote.

You don't have to be an "informed" voter to have the right to vote. Your voting rights aren't grounded in any definition of being informed of anything at all. Advocating for the government to strip voting rights from people for not voting in a manner you deem appropriate is an oppressive intrusion on others that is a societal injustice. The only times you should lose your right to vote is if you renounce your US citizenship and you should temporarily lose it for the length of your incarceration if you're found guilty of a crime that results in a prison sentence. Other than that everyone should remain free to vote for whomever they want for whatever reason they wish.

Why are you oppressing incarcerated people's right to vote? It's not much of a democracy if the state can decide you don't get to vote anymore, is it?

The state isn't arbitrarily removing anyone's right to vote, especially not on frivolous and subjective grounds like how "informed" you are. If you commit a crime against the state then you can be charged by the state. Once charged you are entitled to your due process rights and the state must give you a fair hearing in court. If your court case is not adjudicated in your favor and your are convicted and sentenced to a term in prison then during your confinement you lose a host of rights including your right to vote. Typically all or most of those rights are restored after you complete your sentence, often with the condition of completing a term of parole. A society cannot exist if it is not allowed to protect itself from those that would harm it and it cannot successfully protect itself if it is not allowed to impose negative consequences on those who harm it.

I posit that voting for someone as obviously against America's interests as the current administration is "harming America", and society is obligated to protect itself.

How one would go about protecting against, essentially, dumbfeth voters is difficult, though. I don't think stripping voting rights is a good idea.

Elect Hats president for life.

I promise a Sombrero for every American, taco trucks on every street corner, and free ammo and abortions at every school!

I just figure the last two will cancel each other out and everyone will vote for me anyway because who doesn't want a free Sombrero and an abundance of tacos? No one right? RIGHT?

Give me an option to substitute the sombrero for an enormous furry bearskin hat with ear flaps and you've got my axe vote.

It really does seem like he is in a contest with the world to see how offensive he can be before someone says "feth no" so that he can then complain about it.

Yep. People should try and persuade each other that their cause is correct in the free market of ideas.

That can't happen when one side is convinced that someone is a "Secret Muslim!1!!".

I suppose that means that the other side has not done an adequate job of convincing their detractors that they're wrong?? To be fair, I don't think that "Obama is a secret Muslim" thing is a widespread belief. I live in redneck country, deep Trump territory, and the only place I've ever heard this is from wackaloons on TV.

Funny, I've heard from many of my wife's family here in New York.
