So, I was searching through the site i ordered all of my paints from. Shipped out really quickly, just got my confirmation e-mail. They had all the paint colors I needed in stock, which is why I went to them even though their prices are a whopping $0.20 over some of the cheaper stores *gasp*, so I started looking around through a lot of their other 40k stuff. This was the first time I actually read the details on the (normally) $90 battleforce. So. Tactical marine, combat squad, rhino, assault squad, and scouts squad. Correct me if I'm wrong, but normally wouldn't those be worth a LOT more than $90? Also, this site has a decent discount, so I would be getting even more of a value.
Anyway, more towards the painting and modeling side of things. Is what you get from the battleforce box like... the actual packages. Like, do the various squads come with all of their weapons options and such, or are the watered down versions of the normal boxes (i.e. AoBR)? That would be the make it or break it here, since I happen to need 5 out of the 6 sets included, and I love saving some money, but I don't want to buy it just to find out... oh... I can't give my tactical squad any weapons options other than a missile launcher... or that my assault squad doesn't have the power fist it normally should.
Anyone with contents info on these kits, help would be greatly appreciated.

From my experiences working in a gamestore, only the 'starter' (AoBR, BfM) kits had the limited option sprues. All the battleforces just repackage the sprues. So if your battle force has Assault Marines in it, then you get one (or more) packacges worth of sprues.
If GW wanted to make each box set unique, they'd have to design a separate sprue for each, cutting back on the number of models they can 'print'.

Whole sprues= WIN!!!!!
But.........................................................
You haven't started modeling or painting yet! If you dont like the way that the Space marine models go together. How well they paint up in your scheme or the speed that they paint up to get decent results then they may not be for you!
It may be time to try a different army!
For a first project having 50 or so models staring back at you can be pretty daunting and a bit of a chore. Remember this is suposed to be fun!
Try buying a 10 man tactical squad and finish it! Only once you have done this will you be able to tell if you really want to do it!
Sorry to put a downer on it all but I think this is sound advice!
Or you could just go nuts and do what Lord Castellan has done......

The SM Battleforce repackages:
1 Tactical squad (10)
1 Combat quad (5)
1 Assault squad (5)
1 Scout squad (5)
1 Rhino
It'd be better if the Scouts were swapped for more PA, but it's still a good kit, well worth the money.

Haha, thanks very much for all the advice you've given. It's nice to know that there's somebody on these forums that remembers who I am already. Anyway, I was being a little overenthusiastic about buying the battleforce. I wouldn't be able to do it anytime soon since I'm pretty much broke from christmas shopping and college bills!
However, I do have a tactical squad box and a rhino due to ship to me within a week, so I seem to be right on course with your suggestions!

Dude, if you bought a Tac squad and a Rhino, you probably should have paid the small amount more and bought the Battleforce instead...

It's fine, I got them at a great discount. I don't buy GW stuff from GW, because I don't like paying list price! That'd be horrible! Anyway, it all works out, because my full 1000 point army needs two tactical squads and two rhinos, as well as the assault squad from the battle force, so I'll still be buying one of those. After that though, I need two more assault squads, a chaplain, and a baal predator!

While I appreciate the suggestion, the only thing I could use out of that box is the single tactical squad. I don't even think they come with a meltagun option like I need. I don't need help starting in the game, I'm just trying to collect parts to make my army list, which uses neither dreadnoughts, nor terminators, nor captains.
