So in Calgary there are (I think) three stores which carry GW products. Two GWs, I believe, and another store which goes by the name of Sentry Box. I haven't been to one of the GWs, and I'm not even sure where it is. But the one in Chinook Mall, which I have been to, doesn't have that much selection. It has some LotR, some WHFB, and some 40k. Then there's the various GW art supplies. That's it. Sure, they don't have much space, but they don't make very effective use of what they have, either.
But Sentry Box carries way more. I was in there today and I was amazed by their selection of stuff. They have all sorts of ancient special characters and things. In their efforts to carry as much as they possibly can they stack stuff high in the corners, forming teetering stacks of boxed sets, some of which I didn't know existed yet, like a 40k ruined temple I've never seen before. And then they have specialist games, a huge selection of Inquisitor, Warmaster, Epic, BFG, and others. And they have all sorts of paints, the complete Citadel, Vallejo Model, Vallejo Game, PP, ranges and and others like Testors. Basically to sum it up, they have pretty much everything they can get.
So what does your FLGS carry? What does it not carry that you wish it did? Do you find that most GW stores have such ridiculously limited stock?

Meh. The FLGS in in town (the only one in the south of Tasmania), has GW and Flames of War, but I think that's it. They're also the ones who stock D&D and TCGs.

But I have a specialist modelling store that stocks terrain, plasticard, foamcard, flock, balsa, grass-mats and all other kinds of model kits and stuff. This store used to stock Gw, until they opened up a store two blocks away, and then made it impractical for them to sell it (after first 'accidentally' losing their stock requests).
So, I can go to GW and pay $60 for a pack of trees, or go two blocks west to get the same bag for $30. Twice the amount of flock/scatter for two thirds the price of a small GW tub.

There's one in Chicago called Black Sun Games. They have a small selection of a number of games. PP, GW, Rackham, Flame of War, assorted CCGs, RPG, and board games. It's mostly recent merchandise as they just opened this year.
Then there's Games Plus in Mt. Prospect. They have a crap load of everything. I couldn't even begin to catalog all their inventory because I've never heard of, nor seen anywhere else, about one half of their games.

My FLGS stocks everything. Multiple times over. The store's called Tabletop Game and Hobby. I've talked to the owner extensively. Since he basically has a monopoly on the Kansas City Metro Area (Since the only other one closed down over a year ago, and we don't have any local GW stores), the store can afford to buy the entire GW catalogue more than once at least once a year. Popular sets are stocked pretty heavily (often you'll see a stack of 20 AoBR box sets), but if you go in there you will only have a hard time finding the most obscure of table top games and miniatures (which they will gladly have in for you within a week). They even stock Forgeworld minis. Helldorado, Flames of War, Warmachine, etc. You name it, they've got it. They even have any boardgame you can think of in multiple forms (since I guess boardgames are technically tabletop), and stock tons of TCGs. You can even find stuff you'd normally look in a hobby or hardware store for, such as dremels, drills and drillbits, plasticard, etc. They stock four different lines of paints, have a plethora of paintbrushes, and anything else you're looking for in terms of painting. The store is absolutely massive for a miniatures store, and they have a conjoined building that's dedicated to gamesdays and painting, and it even has a stereo with surround sound. Also, they buy and sell commissioned minis to a ridiculous degree. I have to say that I'm a lucky bastard to even live somewhat close to Tabletop Game and Hobby. It's a wargamer's utopia.

This Is what Sentry box carries in the way of GW stuff. They have a lot of stuff. Racks upon racks of special characters and other stuff in blisters.

Ever since I moved to "Middle of Nowhere" Canada, my local store sells...
CCGs
WH40k/Fantasy
The selection is tiny, random and ancient. If you are looking for something to round out your army or CCG deck, there is a 99% chance that they don't have what you need. If you need some Ice Age Magic booster packs, old "NEW RELEASE" packaging metal Goffs, termagants with spike rifles, a shrink wrapped copy of Dark Millenium or Man O War... this is the place to go.

I'm from Calgary too. Never been to Sentry Box, have to check that out. But in Riverbend, there's Eastridge Hobbies. It's a pretty small store, but at least a quarter of the place is dedicated to WHFB, WH40k, and LotR(mostly dedicated evenly between FB and 40k, with some LotR blisters). For the size of the store, there's a lot of stuff. They even had a box of the old Stormboyz, 16 in the box, etc. Sadly, it's been bought up before I got the chance. Still, plenty of nice stuff, and really good selection, considering the size of the store. Much better use of space then the Chinook GW.
