Just some various thoughts on this beast.

With armour 14 all around, its quite a mobile fortress. I have been running one or two any any of a variety of lists, Chaos and Space marines.

With chaos, the landraider holds a cheap scoring unit nearly indefinitely. Firing 2 twin linked lascannons and a twin linked hvy bolter is no joke for 220pts. (I find it more effective than oblits as the oblits die from str8+ being shot at them, this thing just shirks off str 9 and with the 5 man CSM team inside it SCORES!)

With marines: termies with a 20" threat range is pretty scary. Add Shrike and its freak show scary. The Crusader varients have potential as well. The Str6 AP3 flamer is really horrible if placed into the heart of an enemies army.

The only weapon that really scares the LR is the melta gun. Twin linked meltas are doom. Typically melta guns can be contained and avoided... make them priority targets and/or lock them in CC and a landraider is fairly safe.

Railguns... well... its a railgun. Glance 50% Pen 33% w/ap1.. gets a little scary. On a Pen you will lose the LR 50% of the time.

Anyone good at stats here can toss some actual numbers to the survivability factor?

I think having the scoring unit inside of it really makes it an asset.

Well, dark matter and bright matter shots can bring it down, too, since they penetrate at 5+.

Yeah, its a moving fortress. What complementary troops do you suggest? Marines in Rhinos can keep up with them.

Bike squads, fickle in a way but mobile & able to provide that 4+ cover sv. I assume, judging offhand on the height of each model.

Any auto glance/pen weapons, d-cannon, wraith, stasis grenades, vibro cannons can easily make that 250pt plus block stand still.

Ive never been man enough myself to spend that many points on one tank.

At 220 points the landraider is a great deal for Chaos.

Lol. Same for me. There are better choices in a Chaos army.
And Rhinos are pretty resilient these days.

I really dunno about that... You have to look past points and look into what wins games. Scoring units sitting on objectives wins. Scoring units inside raiders... with teleport/icons inside spitting out more units is priceless.

The landraider is probably the best tank in the game. They are much stronger in 5e.

Yup. Looks like GW finally got the Land Raider right.

Don't forget the options of taking Combi-Weapons or a Havoc Launcher on the Chaos Land Raider, as well as the option of Daemonic Possession.

I think the Land Raider is worth it for the number of roles it can fill. It can be a shooty bunker or a horrifying assault delivery system (especially in the chaos army). With the variants it can be a reasonably mobile firebase or a real horde/cover killer. I've never regretted bringing one. It's sorta depressing when it gets popped on turn 1 or 2 the odd time that happens, but the number of times it's flexibility and resilience has swung things for me is far greater.

Don't forget its ability to block Line of Sight to just about everything.

What should be remembered is that the Land Raider's most potent weapon are the guys inside of it. It's a mobile battle fortress, but if you aren't using it to transport infantry (sole exception possibly being GK 5+ LR spam) and deliver them to where they'll do the most good, then you aren't using it to full effect.
