Hi, my 12 year old cousin is over and is struggling with his High Elves, he wanted help so here his querie is.

I bought some Silver Helms and have assembled all of them exept one. I lost he's 2 Legs for him and have no idea where they are. Normally I could just venture down to my local GW and see if theres any of them in the bitz box. But in Australia we're having our annual "day after boxing day" giffle [which is in 2 days time]. They're putting all of the bitz in numerous bags then raffaling them off. Its Christmas here in Australia today [25th of December] and Im not sure if they're open on the 27th. If they aunt open on Boxing day I'lle have to call them up on the day after boxing day and try to arrange something. Please guys anything I could do to help?

Im very stressed and are desperate for answers cause its wrecked my christmas thinking about this.

Just buy more Silver Helms so you will have a BIG unit and glue the legless dude right to the saddle. You can hide him in the middle of the back rank and remove him as the first casualty.

if have some green stuff i dont think it would be hard to make legs plus that would be cool to see them in a different pose but thats me

My cousin aint pretty good with greenstuff, but I am! I guess I could but him, being the picky and high standard person he is [sounds like the high elf's suit him dont they!] Might not be impressed by my job. We made a plan together on what to do here it is.

*Call our local Hobby Store tomorrow [1 day before the giffle that might be givign away the spare bitz] and see if they have any High Elf silver helms legs.

*If not open, call GW direct and see if they're REALLY giving away the spare bitz, [which Im 80% sure they are].

*On the day of the event, call them just as they open and explain the problem, and see what they can do for you.

*If the worst comes to the worst [since I've got 4 tickets already, I might be super lucky and win a bag with some High Elf legs in them and give them to my cousin].

Anyone else know an extra step or some advice on what to do?

You forgot Step 5: ??? and Step 6: Profit.

The GSing doesn't have to be that complex. Make a log and add a couple of leg plates (whatever shape looks best), and a knee plate with a pulled up spike in the middle. Once you've added it to the body (which should be done before adding any plates except the knee plate with the pulled-up spike in the middle) you can add a couple of curved yet not entirely stuck down plates (almost rectangular, but slightly wider towards one side) at the hips. There should be two on each side, overlapped.

With a good paint job it should look ok. The only hard part is the feet. Use toothpicks to try and achieve the shape of a foot. That's about all I can offer right now, I'm in a hurry. Remember, paint covers a multitude of sins.

Meh, I rekon he started the hobby a bit too young especially not having any friends that are into it. He went home today and I'lle call the guys there today and explain the problemo.

well get creative and FIND a way to fix it up. im sure you can find something that will look like some legs. shoot off the top of my head, look into some cheap dollar store army guys, or while at the dollar store look at the toys for something small enough to steal the legs from. legs on a horse wont be THAT hard to scratch build. even if it looks lame. sides you know after you figure the leg problem out your gunna find the original ones

If he's that picky, why not just slap him and point him in the direction of the Dakka Swap forum. Either that or google, surely something like "High Elf Silver Helms bits legs" in the search box should produce something useful.

meh, I would go with a unit of 6 rather than 8 anyway. Just tell him you are holding the other 2 back for "conversions".

If you are planning on getting the dragon you can use the spare rider from that for example to make a mage or lord on horseback.

I think your best bet would be to have a word with
GW Direct and explain the situation to them.I'm sure
