im seriousely been bored out of my mind since my paint set failed to show up, what i had to plan
to paint during my holiday is now nothing to do and snowed in.
i tried reading other threads about which mmorpg to play, but i always end up reading
people fighting each other, so i'll keep this simple and ask some questions and avoid debates.
1) how is the grinding / lvling.
2) are there lots of bots?
3) are economy controlled by gold farmers?
4) is soloing able to acquire competitive gears?
5) how is the customer service?
6) how are the dungeons / raids ? are they neccesary to acquire best tier gears
7) whats the over all community like? ( are they friendly, or stuck up elitists , i know
every game have their share of both, but want to see if its really bad / good in warhammer online )
thats all i can think of to ask right now.

1. Its not to bad, if you like PVP you can level doing that.
2. there are next to no bots, they did a real good job of killing the gold farmers
3. Gold is not really that important in WAR.
4. if your asking if you have to raid to get crazy good gear then the answer is no, they have a neat public quest system that allows anyone to join in on large group quests, and the Items are split fairly (if you don't get an item on your first try it keeps increaseing your chance every time you do the quest until you get some swag.
5. it kind of sucks at the moment, it takes for ever to get a GM.
6. I have only done one instances, since they are not my thing, I liked it though, But I love doing PQs (public quests)
7. I find that it is a much more mature community that WoW, my only complaint is that you really need to join a guild that is in a good alliance in order to communicate will a large portion of the server. General chat seems to be ignored since it is not posted in a different color than the general Npc spam.
Hope that helps! let me know if you start playing I will get you the info for the server I am on, and hook you up with some starting loot.

thank you for the fast reply!
i might take your offer for starting on your server.
i have already thought of 2 classes i want to try and
luckily they are 1 of alliance and 1 of horde so either is ok with me depending what faction you are on.
right now im thinking of squig herder, or white lions.
btw if im to get warhammer, im probably getting it off
Steam, is there anything bad about that?
thanks for the replies!

1) how is the grinding / lvling.
It's alright. Remember, the way to do it is to queue up for scenarios. If you have a strong
group together, then run as many PQs as you can. If you're by yourself, just run through as
many quests as you can.
2) are there lots of bots?
Different games have different definitions of bots. DAoC had a large number of bots, but
by that I think it meant 1 guy multiboxing. Someone in my guild got reported for running
a script, but it's not really an effective way to do anything (you're better off being alive
player in scenarios and/or public quests).
3) are economy controlled by gold farmers?
As far as I can tell, you only really need gold in the beginning in order to save money
up for flying between tiers and buying your mount.
4) is soloing able to acquire competitive gears?
Probably. I think a casual pvp crowd is attracted to the game and so if you face up against
those folks you'll be fine. You also get a wide range of people in scenarios as they boost lower
level characters to a higher point. So even with dropped/quested gear, you'll be on even
footing most of the time.
7) whats the over all community like? ( are they friendly, or stuck up elitists , i know
every game have their share of both, but want to see if its really bad / good in warhammer online )
Not really good, not really bad.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags. |

Aye WaR was okay but my wife hit the same wall you have Lunahound, her PC just couldn't run it well enough for her to pay a sub, So we went back to WoW.
Do you like Superhero styled stuff, as city of Villians/Heroes feels very different to WoW, and is fun to play. The create mode especially is scarily addictive, and I think if I could afford to run two subs for myself, I might well have stayed on CoH/CoV for an occasional game as I loved the powers.

If you havent tried City of Heroes/Villians yet, I highly reccomend it.
If you could BARELY run WAR then you should be able to run that at full graphic options.
I played it since release up to about a year ago when I finally tired of it. It was a fabulous waste of time. I wouldnt be surprised if you could get in on a free month of it as well.

Warhammer Online is a great game if you enjoy PvP in an MMO - I'd say it is the best out there. The PvE isn't all that great but there are some pretty nice endgame dungeons. The great thing about the endgame PvE is that they are all tuned for a single group. That's good in the sense that you don't have to be a part of an uber guild to experience the entirety of the game. My last point would be to make sure select a high population server... so much of the goodness that WAR offers is dependent on having enemy opposition.

i want to try WAR... but for now, i just play LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online) 1. if you grind, you will level VERY slowly. questing is the way to go in this game. 2. not sure what you mean by bots. i dont follow stuff like that. 3. gold is needed for repairs, and buying your mount. you get more then nough for this from drops (unless you blow it at the Auction House) 4. the main point of the game it to get with a good group of people and stick with them. you can solo, but the game is best when in a group. 5. dont know, i have never needed it (the game is just that good ) 6. the dungeons rock, if you like the lord of the rings books then you will love them even more. they do drop some nice gear, but mostly they give you cool items to put on display at your players personal house. 7. i have yet to come accross a stuck up elitists. everyone i have met has been very helpfull. i think this is primarily du to the crafting system they have, no matter what you pick you can do a little bit of crating by yourself. but you need another player or 2 to get the best out of it. I.E. a woodworker can gather wood for himself, make bows and stuff. but needs a weapon crafter to make blades for him to turn into spears and other various things. the armoruer can mine and smelt metal for armor, but needs a woodsmen to tan leather for them. just thought i throw out something for you to try

I think it has been said before but I'll say it again. If you are looking more toward PvE then LotR Online, if you want more RvR type events then go WAR. The WAR community is still growing so it is kind of hard to say much about it at the moment. LotR online has a fairly good reputation for it's community being friendly and helpful.
