Okay, I'll admit it ( and I know I'm bordering on heresy here, being a Smurf player ), I'm impressed with the Deffkopta entries.

In fact, I was so impressed I thought it time to return to my AoBR box and hack up a Kopta too, but what the hell was I going to do to it
This was on New Year's Eve, and thankfully there were the usual crop of Past Year's Headlines shows on and then it came to me, the US & UK forces in Iraq and Afghanistan had spent most of the year doing what Orks do best, blowing seven shades of out of things from choppers.

What emerged from my tortured little mind is a combination of 1st Ork vehicle conversion since RT, and tribute to our forces overseas, may your tours all end the good way.

This, then, is...

...The Kobra.

Gunner & Big Shoota mount

The inspiration behind this little project, the Bell AH1 Cobra.

Still one or two minor tweaks to add ( I'm thinking of putting a fuel tank in the rear space, and I know there's a hole behind the guner's head ) but pretty much there. As usual, comments and critiques welcomed. ( And for god's sake go to the gallery and VOTE ! Am I the only one here who does ?)

Wow, I like that figure VERY much. The two Ork transition looks seamless from the pictures. Great idea!

Thanks, guys. Glad you're liking it.
Sorry, scotty, no WIP photos. I wasn't planning on entering the competition so I didn't take any. Glad the parts join ok, it took a bit of filing and fiddling before I was happy with it

The only thing I can recommend is that the Shoota looks like it's a tiny bit canted upwards, like an air-to-air gun.

Like I said, it's the teeniest thing. Also, the bit of sprue in the back jumped out at me when I took a good second look.

Like I said before, though, I love the model. Is it basically two coptaz stuck together?

Burb, carving up ork kit, with modelling knife or bolter and dice, is still carving up Ork kit. Look on it as "updating ork tech"

Chrispy, good eye on the angle of the Big Shoota, but it IS intentional and meant to imply the movement of the cannon tracking through 2 arcs of movement, just like the weapon on the AH1. As for the sprue at the rear of the aircraft, it's original purpose was to imply a support for the weight of the tail, but as I said in my opening post I'm planning on adding a fuel tank, so the plumbing should help blend the supports into the airframe slightly better...
...and yes, it IS two AoBR Deffkoptas combined, with some parts of a Mangusta kit and a toy .50 cal. Anyone guess where the wings are from ? ( No, not a kit, and not plasticard )

Still plenty of space under the wings, and as soon as I get around to it the Big Shoota is getting twinned

LunaHound : Thanks, glad you like.

The green is just Knarlock Green from the Foundation Paint Set, but the lighting for the photo just makes it look darker somehow.

Stretch : Thanks. Nice try on the guess, but wrong. I'll post a couple of pics to help you guess...

You'll kick yourself if you work out how simple it was to find

KingCracker : I've seen your comments on other conversions, so thank you very much. Always nice to get positives from someone with as good an eye as you. Also glad I could inspire , even if you're playing it close to your chest as to what exactly I've inspired ( I shudder to think !).

PM me with a teaser, perhaps ?
