Help!
I got the older version of the Ork battle force as a
present and I've got a dilema with part of it.
The part in question is the older version of the war
trukk.Compared to the new version it's a weedy small
thing and I don't believe opponents will let me use
the new rules for it!So I'm thinking that I need to
convert it somehow to make it bigger and was wondering
if any Ork players had done so.I'm thinking of extending
the chassis but the sticking point is increasing the
height.I think I'll use plasticard and styrene shapes to
do it,but as it will be my first conversion am a bit
worried about making a pig's ear of it!

Opponents can't disallow you from using it. Just model whatever upgrades you want and have at it!

Making a pig's ear out of it? That's an interesting expression, lol

If anyone gave you hassle for using an older model, calmly locate any models they have of the same age and tell them to remove them from their armies.

A trukk's a trukk's a trukk.

Don't worry about making a pig's ear of it, they're Orkz, it looks like a pig's ear to begin with. Easiest way to bulk it up would be to use some plasticard to extend the bay and length of the entire thing and maybe raise the bay higher than the cabin.

Semi common round the east coast of Scotland I find.

Common in the North West too!

As for the Trukk, I'd keep it, just slightly modify it. Orks are suppossed to have a collection of different rag tag vehicles, not the same rag tag trukks.

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

A sort of folded jerky or a type of danish pastry here too. It's a rather odd thing.

The bit stuck on the side of England. Wales isn't it.

I'm in a similar situation I've got 5 of the oldies and one new. I kept a few parts back from the new one , the car door looking parts from the rear cab and the dividing wall section , it makes the truck look more open like the old ones , and my plan is to use those parts to upgrade the old ones. I'm thinking of building a new rear passenger setion straight on top of the existing one . Then fitting bigger wheels ( from either toys from the pound shops, or resin copies of the new truck wheels). This would make the back section as tall as the new trucks. I've got to paint 20 more boyz , 6 deff koptas and convert 7 nobs to have power klaws then paint them before I try this , so I'll be keeping an eye out for other peoples attempts that take on task before me.

Last month I started converting two of the old ork trukks. In order to bring them into line with the current trukk kit I've done things like:

-extend the rear bed
-raise the rear bed
-add axles (more wheels means more go-fast!)
-bigger wheels
-enlarge cabin (especially engine compartment!)
-add armor plating
-add roll bars, as they're a prominent feature on the new kit

Given my army's theme, I'm turning one into a dump truck, the other is becoming a large Peterbilt-looking Wrecker. I'll have pics coming to my P&M blog possibly this weekend showing the initial progress. The old kit is showing it's age, so you've got your work cut out for you. Best of luck!

Of my three Trukks, two are converted using the old one as a starting point. I'd definitely recommend replacing the krew!

Pigs' ear works all the way across east anglia and through east yorkshire too.

I'd reckon on using the older trukks as buggies now if you want to. Or kit-bashing them into buggies, they'll give you more cover to stand behind as your buggies are suddenyl a little bit "bigger" Plus in reality that trukk space is really only big enough for one ork and a weapon stand, maybe with a grot ammo runt and some ammo cases.

Oh, and replacing the crew is awesome, nice work whoever thought of that, I can't believe it's never occured to me before to do it!!!

No. VA USA

the only disadvantage an old trukk will have, is when it becomes terrain/wreckage. Well, that and it really is kinda difficult to block True LOS with it since it's such a lowrider.

I'd put some sides on it, perhaps use some plastickard and widen it a bit as well. Using a new trukk or two to modify your old ones would be another way to go.. or, find a friend doing orks and see what bitz he isn't using and then trade/swap bitz with him..

I can't claim to have DONE this, but I had it done.. lol..

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/223235.page

I gave Redstarone an old trukk and an OOP rhino and asked him to build me a Half-trukk thing.. it is definitely lower to the ground than the other one, but it DOES now take up the same footprint when seen from above..

Thanks a lot guys!
Am planning a major overhaul. What I would say is I'd
recommend you to this shop's website:www.hobbys.co.uk
They are an excellent craft/hobby supply shop. They
have a selection of wheels, one set of which are
destined for the conversion I'm planning. Also they
sell stuff like plasticard in various sheet widths as
well as shaped stuff, also a lot things which are meant
for model railways but just as usable by us.
Lastly Solar sun is right, you do tend to hear the
expression pig's ear a lot on the east coast of Scotland.
Strangely enough in England I've heard people say
Sow's ear.

From a rules point of view, the old trukks are great. Their small size makes the very hard to hit, especially with the new "big terrain" boards that are showing up lately.
