I notice from this old thread from June 2008
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/213097.page
a promise of 40k map tiles for campaigns in 2009.

Anyone know if this is still coming?

I think there was a hint of it in the last White Dwarf so I'd say yes.

Is that eluding to the elusive Planetfall expansion or campaign?

I remember one of the higher-ups on the creative end of things talking about it recently. I can't remember if it was Jervis or Jes or Rick. I'm pretty sure it's in the works still.

Yeah, right behind the new LaD codex.

Well, they never ever publicly said that the LatD were going to get their own codex, so there is a major difference.

Why would they?

They had a Codex, along with 13 Company, Cadians (which they stated would be replaced with the Guard Codex) and the USF.

Fair enough, let me rephrase that.

Yeah, right behind the new Squat Codex.

They talked really long about how they were going to update the squats and how they were making new figures before giving them the axe. No matter how much do we wish something GW has set quite a few precedents of hyping something and then pull the plug on it.

Bang! Bringing out the 'S-word' again? And, yeah, I like how the Cadian list was quickly trumped by the new Guard Codex. What was the turn around on that?

Wow, thanks, Miguelsan, for dragging this thread completely off-topic.

No problem. You might not agree with my cynicism but as I already pointed it´s a rumor probably will end up in nothing.
But feel free to prove me wrong with something more substantial than a "a higher up said..."

It said in White Dwarf a future battle report would use them to recreate the War for Armageddon.

So nyeah.

One means the Mechanicum truly loses their gak, and the other means the Eldar realize that Vaul is really a toaster and experience religion fail.

Ok, I`ll concede that there was an official announcement of the tiles being WiP for this year. We`ll see if they finally make it.

I think using the Squats as an example of GW going back against their word is a pretty big stretch nower days. 2nd Ed was how long ago?

I could make an analogy here, but I don't want to invoke Godwin's Law this early in the thread.

Godwin's law WILL occur sooner or later, on this thread and everywhere else as well. let's not get off hitler....I mean, kilter.

I think that Custom Ork Thunderhawk thread is reaching critical mass of Godwin-ness.

So, should mentioning the Squats in a Dakka thread be classified as invoking (Jes) Goodwin's Law?
