I'm going to put Realistic Water from Woodland Scenics on my Nurgle bases. I've tested it and it's to clear and too clean looking. What can i do to make it look more dirty. ie brown clearish water. I'm using the paste water first to put around the legs. This will hold the Liqued water in and it dries to match the paste stuff which is great. Any help would be fantastic.

I did a test piece with a light colored base and I don't see the color comeing through. I'll try a test piece with a darker base.

I am working on the same project. I have ten test bases which should hopefully be dry sometime in the next few days. I'll post the results.

There are various acrylic gel media which can be used for water effects and can easily be coloured/stained with regular acrylic paint.

I dont' want paint on it. I want you to be able to see the water effects and not paint ontop of water effects.

What you need is a dye to tint it.I'm sure woodland
scenics sell it.

The gel can be mixed with paint because it is acrylic. You can do swirls of stained and clear gel, and multiple layers. Do stained layer and when it is dry, put a clear layer on top.

Or you could paint the layers with something semi transparent, and have the final layer be clear.

as said above try layers with paint between or try tinting the water effects with ink or paint, good luck!

In WD 312 they show how to make water polls yet they do not tell how to get a diffrent effect.Soz if this doesn't help I thought ou'd just like to know where you can learn how to do it propely.(Not saying you can't though)

I'd like to get anti-freeze colored green. Any ideas on that.

Thanks for the ideas. I was hoping it be easier than this. LOL.

Try mixing watered down ink or washes to the realistic water that way you can have any colour and it isn't that prevalent

Ok I've made two test pieces and i dont' like the way they look. On top of it I'm putting the sand down with elmers glue and once I put the water effects on the base the whole thing peals off the base.

you can reglue after the water drys. also, I found if you pull some of the water down the side of the base it keeps "shrinkage" from happening.

good luck
