So, I picked up my battlewagon Friday night and saw something that caught my eye.
There was a casting error on 2 parts.
One half of each of 2 front tires on the BW was miscast. It looked as if not enough plastic had been injected into the mold. It was like the tire half STARTED, then just kind of sloughed off into a blob of goo.
So I called GW and, true to form, they're sending me out a new one... So, I'll have 2 BW's... one with 4 wheels in the front and 1 with only 2 in front.
The news, though, is that the guy who took my call told me that he's actually heard of this happening a lot. He said that he's had a number of calls like mine.
So, when you open your B-Wagons, be careful. You might get some bad tyres.

its not just with the BW, this problem was on some wheels of plastic Space Marine bikes, one of the Staffers in Winchester (UK) was putting togehter. And i've haeard similar about trukk wheels froma guy in Brent cross (UK) so it looks like their moulding fullstop on some stuff is a bit borked

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

Yeah you could even build a BW with 2 sets of tracks and then the other BW can just have tires for a sort of APC look.

Well, as far as a windfall goes... yeah.
I'll just model one with only 2 wheels, instead of 4.
As for the problem not only being with this kit... Well, I don't know.
Are all the problems you've heard about with WHEELS on the sprues? If that's the case, then it might be a problem with the way the molds are made and/or the way they interact with the plastic injection.
I mean, if every "incomplete sprue" problem is with the tire areas... that makes me wonder.

a wheel is quite a large hole for the liquid plastic to fill, maybe it's more likely not to fill than other bits when the injection machine is losing pressure... both mine have perfect wheels.
Yes, you are actually very lucky, the BW looks fine with just the front pait of wheels - although pedantically you shoulad also convert the suspension to remove the extra unneeded axle.

I actually just noticed that last night with the cape of a SM Commander. Unless I'm mistaken, it looks like one corner is just sorta floppy and globular. I think I cleaned it up, but it def happens.
I've also noticed that the SM backpacks have some problems lately. Some of them seem to have the mounting hole go all the way through to the other side.

In November I picked up a box of Lootas/Burnas to bolster my Orkies.. and the Loota sprue was incomplete. Three of the corners of the sprue were just not there, and some of the surrounding parts were incomplete and looked "melted".
I was able to scrounge 3 complete Deffguns from the sprue, eventually.. but before I did that I called GW customer service and the gent I spoke to pretty much said .. "Happens Sometimes" and mailed me out a new sprue.
(but not a brand new box, Curse you Eric!) (seriously nice bonus!)

both of the sprues that have the boyz/ BS/grabbin klaw in my two boxes had problems. Parts of the sprue were incomplete and other parts were "burned" black. The customer support guy I spoke to said that he had heard of that happening and they were checking the batch numbers to figure out what happened.
I'm a very happy customer.

I had that "burned" issue on my "boyz/ BS/grabbin klaw" sprue, as well. The one Ork body & partial legs that sticks out of the cupola had that on his neck & left knee. Fortunately, they were BARELY "melted," and definitely won't show, once assembled (IF I use taht piece, anyway).
Oh, and, Pork... Don't hate the player. Hate the game (manufacturer). LOL

I experienced that 'burned' deal on a sprue, too. It almost looked like someone had opened the box and painted some black on an Ork boot (BW crew member).

Of course, metal minis have their own issues.
For example, I've had metal minis with pieces of the *mold* stuck to them...
Along with similar issues of not filling / venting properly.
As GW will tell you - "It happens".
