Hey everyone,

So I'm noticing that my collection of rhinos/landraiders/vindicators/etc is getting a bit out of hand -- how do you guys go about transporting those models when going to your local store? Given the amount of space they take up, I'm a bit reluctant to buy foam cases (army transport and all that) for them.

Any tips/advice? Thanks a ton.

There you go using your ?common sense? again.

Fishing tackle boxes are your friend.

Not only do they generally come with extra storage compartments that fit individual models just perfectly, there's usually plenty of room left over for tanks and larger models. If you're really worried about damage, I would just invest in some bubblewrap.

Much cheaper than any model-specific carrying case you'll ever find.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to cut up pices of foam to the exact size of the model you want to house, and keep it in any old case. The next time i get seen with one of those pug ugly gw rip offs is also the day i've had a gun pointed at my head by one of there "overly aggressive" salesman.

I started out with buying sheets of foam from the craft store for like a 4x8' sheet ($10) and a big rubbermaid box ($4)Yea, it is Christmas green and red. I'm not proud, but I'll admit it. Heh.
I cut the big sheet to size in pairs, then cut out holes about 1/2" apart to fit the mini's on one sheet, then took an identical size sheet and glued them together with foam friendly glue as the bottom (I think it was a low-heat glue gun).
It may not be pretty, but for $14 and glue, it does the job.
I haven't gotten around to making slots to hold vehicles so I just lay them on top and am careful not to tip the box too much.
I'll probably go for one of those army transport bags soon though because they just seem so handy.

Because I love magnets, I have been so tempted to go with a metal toolbox and magnets on the bases. Or even metal strips in toolboxes to keep the mini's from sliding aorund too much.
Something like this:

i have one gw carrying case (as im mainly infantry) and some plastic container with handles to carry my grinders.

Though im gona get rid of the gw carrying case as everyone thinks of me as their resident technician and just go for one of them plastic containers with handles.

Are you talking about the Sable Designs cases? Those things are awesome I cant wait till I've paid for tuition/car/motorcycle/credit card/girlfriend/summer vacations. Then Im gonna get me one of them sweet motorpool cases for my pair of landraiders, three rhinos, two razorbacks and predator. Hopefully I can fit my greater daemon and/or Daemon Prince in it also.

But for now I use a Cardboard box.... *sigh*

I have a huge GOTT cooler with wheels and a handle. Its a big cube looking one that i think would fit a beer keg. Then add some foam you cut custom. I got my foam from the cast off heap at the local chair manufacturer. The cooler holds my entire 4000point Apoc Templars army along with all my books dice templates and even have a slot cut for the mini Gott with my lunch in it.

For my foam I copied the GW tray idea which allows me to customize the box for whatever I happen to be using that day. Currently I am looking for a green one for my Orks .

The upside is it never looks geeky even the current girl does not complain when I drag it with us through the mall to one of the local stores.
