I was curious why do the Eldar have trouble re-populating the galaxy? Were so many of them killed by Slaaneshs birth that it just put them that far behind? Or do they just have some really odd way of giving birth? And would it be possible for an Eldar to breed with a human, like a half-elf kind of thing where that child would retain some traits from both races. Because if they could cross breed wouldn't that solve many problems for both races? Although I can't imagine the Ecclesiarchy going for that, just a thought.

Just read on lexicanum that eldar reporoduce in stages. The male eldar adds new genetic material over a long period of time.

I'm not sure. Lexicanum is pretty vague. Try a search engine...maybe there's some old fluff somewhere online that got left out.

They don't want to reproduce, they want the entire race to die in the hopes that in doing so their god or something will come and save them from Slaneesh. I remember that from Advanced Tau Tactica.
I'm not sure why they don't mass suicide though. Maybe they're making sure that all the webways are closed to outsiders and the craft worlds protected or something.

I thought it was all about a limited gene-pool of 20000 a craftworld and the fact that with a few thousand years of life ahead of you I sure would not be in a hurry to raise a family, and maybe the eldar females are pregnant a much longer period of time then humans.

That's got to be ancient fluff. There is no way within the current concept of the SMs that any half-breed or mutant would be considered for initiation. Most imperial citizens despise the thought of being in the presence of a zenos.

I always figured they used some sort of reincarnation, So since Slaneesh is eating all of there souls and all the spirit stones they collect are fed into the infinity matrix. There are no souls to enter the zygoats and all eldar babies are still born.

My theory is, in conjunction with my previous post, that they are trying to close up all the webway gates and possible ways for harm to reach them so that they can gather up all of their spirit stones and place them within the infinity circuit, safe from Slaneesh and having undisturbed eternal rest.
I doubt that they would want to create more people seeing as their time is limited and their race is far from saving.

DE dudes on the other hand probably make out with a couple thousand female harlots every year.

They have a low birth rate. I read that ... somewhere. And they are always running off to be Rangers and/ or getting killed and turned into Zoanathropes.

Doesn't Slaanesh eat their souls when their spirits leave their spirit stones?
I don't think they want to have children as such, their time has long since past and i think they want to just rest in the infinity circuit when they're done.

well considering that their farseers play with the strands of fate to ensure that the Eldar survive seems to contradict that. The way I see it, it just takes a long time to reproduce. Combined with the fact that many eldar dedicate their entire lives to one aspect of war, it leaves little time for producing offspring.

Eldar take a long time to raise children, and they lose many to the path of the outcast before they can start families of their own. Plus their conception rate is very small now that their souls cannot return from the warp.

They are so few, and the dangers are so many, that they are at or slightly under the replacement ratio. Thus they are a dying race. Of course they have the scientific skill to clone themselves, but that doesn't solve the problem of getting their souls back from the warp. Since there are very few new souls they can summon back, they are hindered even more.

The Eldar arent dying out, I should know, i've got 37,000+ points worth hiding in storage boxes at the other end of my room. Probably doing god knows what at the moment, wouldnt be surprised if I opened the box to find another 3k worth (all destined for a display case... a major WIP).
