My current armies have often been praised for being very balanced and solid lists while remaining creative and full of character. But now I’ve been thinking recently about creating a ‘cheesy’ army that could annihilate my opponent. Most players I know have 1 or 2 lists that could be considered ‘cheesy’ such as nidzilla armies for example, so I thought I’d create my own for ‘special’ occasions.

However I did not want it to be an army with a large number of models, the smaller the better. When the new Orks codex came out I was so tempted to do an Ork army. Mainly because I’ve always loved the Orks’ fluff and their overall behavior from the DOW games. However I did not want to paint lots of green because I had just finished my Grot Rebellion guard army and to be honest I was sick of green.

So I went up to my local Ork Veteran who had played Orks long before the new codex had come out and asked him what was the smallest number of Orks I could have in a list?

His answer was 22 and he told me about the idea of a Nob Biker army. Now at first I thought he was nuts but anyone who has seen Nob Bikers in action will know that they are one of the most toughest units in 40k. A 4+ cover and armour save, 5+ Invulnerable and feel no pain. Add that their speed and agility and you’ve got a nasty army there.

615 - Nob Bikers:
4 with Power Klawz, 3 with Big Choppaz, 2 with Choppaz and 1 Painboy all have cybork bodies (except the Painboy), stikkbombs and a Waaagh Banner.

Total Pts: 1500
Total No: 22
Kill Pts: 4

They will dominate in an Annihilation mission with only 4 kill pts and claim objectives with ease in control missions.

However I feel the list still needs perfecting perhaps adding some deff-koptas for tank hunting or perhaps giving them big bombs for carpet bombing swarm armies?
Either way I would very much appreciate any feedback or suggestions on how to improve the list without increases the model count too much?

I actually made an army like this to sell.

I would advise dropping hte big choppas, a power claw or two, and adding infiltrating kommandoes or buggies.

Also dont forget the neat little trick of giving EACH nob one of the upgrades so that they are all unique. They all have to take a wound before you pop one

As he said, if you're looking for the uber cheese, just start abusing the wound allocation rules, differently equipped models take wounds individually, letting you put a wound on every nob and the warboss before removing any models.

Just equip each one with one diff. bit of eq., thats a good spot to begin.

If I remember right my units had

2 claws
1 boss pole
1 banner
1 painboy
1 ammo runt
1 boss pole

And then if you need more, use one of each of the kombie guns and the twin linked shoota.

Looks neat. At least a mech Eldar army will have a field day.

If you turbo boost that into your opponents face, he is going to have a bad day. Looks fun to play, I think it would do well.

Beware. one of the things making that list strong in the past is that it was rather new and unexpected. as time has gone on, people have meta-gamed against it, and several techniques have been developed to counter an army like this. Moreover, since these types of armies have shown up with increasing regluarity, many players now regularly field their own counter units on the chance that they may run into nob bikers so that they are prepared.

Things like large firedragon squads, Thunderhammer teminators, implanting rending tyranids, thunderfire cannons, markerlightspam, exorcist spam, lash princes, jetseer councils and the like are more common now, and can give you a rough game. in nearly every case, the counter unit is generally significantly cheaper than the unit they are brought in to kill, and stand a good if not excellent chance of taking your bikers out.

A note here - you're 15 points short. =p

Units may take cybork bodies to gain an invulnerable save, but you can't pick and choose among a unit. Your painboys need to have them too.
