Wanted to ask as i have no patricular preference in any chapter.
Just want to make sure they sell easily incase i ever want to get rid of them :"P

In my neck of the woods the ones I see most often are Ultras, or DA.

Crimson Fists are probably the most common SM Chapter around here.
I do tend to see a ton of Blood Angels, too.

I see more DIY chapters than anything else, but other than those I run into a lot of templars more than anything else.

Templars are the easiest to paint. Personally I like SpaceDogs.

I would definetly vote against Templars being easiest to paint. Sure, they're the easiest to prime. But one of the most difficult armies to actually paint. Black is a pain to do correctly. White is a pain to do correctly. White on black is a nightmare. I honestly think they're tied for the top spot on 'Most Difficult Marine Paintjob' with Imperial fists. Or, even worse, the Scythes of the Emperor.

They might be the hardest to make look great, but they're easy to paint to a tabletop level.
Prime Black
Astronomicon grey on the shoulder pads
Mechrite Red on any trim
Boltgun on anything metal
Brown on anything leather
Wash entire model with black
White on shoulder pads, add badge
HIghlight reds and browns
Done and it looks ok. Not great, but certainly field able.

D-I-Y is probably the most popular, but I guess if I had to pick a common chapter, I'd have to say Dark Angels. I've seen a lot of people playing the different flavors of Dark Angels.

DIY is definitely the most popular, but there is something strange about where i play, we have 4 (yes 4) DIY marine armies with almost exactly the same color scheme (purple w/ gold trim). and there are a pair of people (not the same people) that play DA, BA, and Sallies (either with the actual paint scheme or a successor chapter).
we have 2 Ultras players (me and one other kid), but the other person seems to be shelving them for the time being, leaving me as the only UM player (tho in all honesty, i havent even begun to paint or even assemble my stuff, so i dont really count yet either)

DIY is most popular.
People don't seem to like GW's suggested paint schemes, including myself.
Close second is a surprising number of ultras. More than I have ever seen in my life. All combined, three chapters worth here.
Its like looking at a smurf village on the table and I am sure smurfette is certainly tired.

What should i do guys , i made this thread to get some ideas on what to do with my space marine i dont play.
Should i paint them to gamming standard ( about all i can do :x ) and ebay them , or just ebay them unpainted.
Im sort of hesitated because with the new release of AoBR the prices for marine squad has gone down alot. AND
my squad was the expensive ones they also have metal shoulder pad.
I dont want to get rid of them for 25% of what they costed me D":

You should trade them unpainted unless you can do a tremendous job of painting them.
Probably, your best bet is to trade them on Btown to another Canadian for something of comparable value.

Trust me, I'm surprised at the number of times I've seen Crimson Fists around here. You have no idea how many times, or from how many different people, I've had to deal with Pedro Kantor... I really don't consider 'DIY' to be a chapter. Chances are that when it's a DIY chapter, there's only going to be one of them. Anyway, I'd definetly say try ebaying them unpainted. People are either going to buy something unpainted, or buy something painted to a very high level. If the paintjobs on the models are 'tabletop quality', then chances are that the person that buys the army is just going to strip them and try his own hand at it, and he's not going to want to pay anything extra, since he's going to have to do extra work to get them where he wants them.

When I started 40k 15 years ago, I started with BA, and I seemed to be the odd man out, which contrasts with what I hear here. Where I play now, believe it or not, there are not a lot of Marine players. There are more Chaos marine players than loyalists. I honestly like SM, and I hope I can get an army of them again at some point. I also like the Ultramarines, no matter what people feel about them. I like the color scheme and I like their fluff. I'd probably play BA again or a DIY, because I would like to do something a little different than the next guy's

I'm actually thinking about starting up a Space Sharks army - that way I can use the standard SM Codex, or if the Space Wolf Codex looks really good, when it comes out, I can use the Space Sharks as a counts-as SW army.
