The other day, I ordered a copy of Rippers : The Horror Wars. For those who don't know, this is a Skirmish battle game set in Victorian times, with the likes of Abraham Van Helsing taking on Dr Moreau and his beasties.
Saw this in a now long gone Indy about 4 years ago, but sadly lacked the money to buy it. I was drawn in by the models (lovely models those!) and I have a soft spot for proper Victorian Fantasy (not arsing Steampunk which is rubbish).
So, I recevied the book yesterday. Not had much a chance to read it (turned up along with some other stuff. Guess who got paid on Monday?) but I did notice order codes for the models. Being produced by Great White Games, I thought I'd have a shufty on their website...and no models available.
Anywhere. Even on Ebay. Literally found one sight which sells Van Helsing, and the Vampires (£35 for both...might order them today actually). But no Blisters, and nothing else seemingly available. Actually. No. Reading it properly, the only one available is the Vampire. Terr. Bloody. Rific. The one warband type thingy I could realistically put together from my existing stock of little metal men. The others? Nah mate. No bloody chance.
This bloody sucks! Years I spent trying to track this down only to have some nasty squitty little Goblin hoof me in the nads just before the finish line.

On the other hand, this sounds like a game where you could easily get miniatures from other companies. Reaper's Chrono line comes to mind.

I tried to find suitable Victoriana models before, but sadly it seems Steampunk has infiltrated what was an already rich seam of stuff, and infected it from within.
Don't suppose you'd have a link to Reapers Chrono stuff? My Google-Fu is weak on that just now.
Never mind! Found it now. There are a few there (Jack the Ripper would suit, as you can field old Saucy Jack as one of the bad guys)

You lost all credibility by calling steampunk rubbish.
But I will forgive you as I understand it is a lot easier to find victorian steampunk than it is to find simply victorian minis.
I do recall the models for this game. They never had a HUGE assortment, but definitely enough to play this game with hopes of more to come in the future which I dont think ever came to pass.
All is not lost though, I do not beleive.
Here is a set of a couple vampires and a few cossack guards:

Here is a resource that might help for character cards and such:

Horror clix sounds like a viable option for many models. Might be worth investigating.

Is there nothing in Foundry's "Victoriana" ranges, particularly their "Favourites" range, that suits?

Forgive me but I've never heard of the game before, so apart from Jack the Ripper and some Victorian-looking vampires, what else do you need? There are many manufacturers with Wild West ranges, or Pulp ranges that have civilians etc. that could be of use, if I know what to look for! that ma

Yup, this game used minis from West Wind. Pinnacle/GWG has never really gotten into doing their own mini lines, so I think Rippers was basically an idea in finding a compatible line and making a game to fit. It looks a shade darker than Horror Wars native ruleset in tone, as the 'good guys' are often making faustian bargains to get some Kewl powerz they need to fight off the abominations.
Faustian choices were big in Deadlands, too... And Rippers has some vague cameos to Deadlands, including a character with a Gatling Pistol as I remember.

I don't know. His initial botty burp burnt off all my taste buds.
Either that or it's my smoking habit.

You could also look at Wyrd miniatures... their steampunk is more weird science than punk.
They're here...

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
