Hi, i am thinking of creating a kit for a "robed leader" to be mounted on a jetbike, the kit will be made of resin and would be of a scratch built "robed leader" (and maybe a "robed high leader").
Obviously the kit would not consist of any jetbikes or jetbike parts as i would get in trouble for that, but i (as well as most of you eldar players out there) i would like the youse of a "robed leader" mounted to lead my jetbikes!
The kit would come with both the spear and sword options and i would maybe make 2 torso/head options!
I know that i could use at least 10 of these for myself and i am sure that some of you guys could probably use one or two!

any input will be well recieved as well as any ideas!

My experience with "anyone interested in..." in threads is that people are, but would want pics! My advice would be to make the origional piece or even just a wip then ask! And once its cast stick some on eBay!

Pending the quality of the miniature, and possibly the cost (although far less important of a factor) I would use tons of 'robed leaders'

what would be the GT legality of using these 'robed leaders'?

Perhaps a suggestion would be to do most of it, but have separate heads. That way, your 'robed leader parts' with my warlock head and guardian jetbike bike, would add up to a legal model at official tournaments.

PM me if you do get around to a demo model. I would certainly call myself interested.

When you mean, robed leader you are referencing Farseer or warlock?

Not really, I find robes figures mounted flying vehicles to look silly with their fabric flapping all over the place threatening to rip themselves off of the bikes due to a severe lack of aerodynamics.
Or worse, threaten to suck the robed figure through the engine intakes...

A non-robed version however, you would pique my interest.

Eldar Farseer + jetbike intake = Epic Fail?

I wouldn't mind some resin eldar bits - but you need to check GW's IP use policy before you try to sell anything like this.

I have seen these and can say , apart from being the unit of lame, the models are truly sexah!

Obviously, not quite as sexah as the Kharne model you are currently making to lead my world eaters, but sexah none-the-less.

Yes.
Its why I made these because robes are really...impractical.

If I could find ready made riders like that. Disco.

Hay mate, that conversion looks cool!, i have started work on a vriant without robes today, but its gunna take a few week i would imagine(waiting for the green to dry sux!!)
good ideas with reguards to the dire avenger helmat and the spear mate!
i have decided to make a "guiver style" set of armour for the "un-robed leader" version with a choice of sword or spear and marbe 3 head swops for him!
i will be makeing a couple of "greater leader"heads that will be available extra(for both the robed and un-robed variants)!
I wont be makeing anything to change the jetbike though, accept maybe a ravenwing style back part for the "greater leader "
I will say now though, that i am not the best modeler (greenstuffer) in the world and i am only makeing this kit as i need like 15 for myself!, so i thoought i would post and see if anyone else needed any!
i wont be charging an arm and a leg for these so dont expect wonders!!

A robed leader cavalryman or Space Elf Mounted Shaman is a good idea. While obviously it would be designed to mount on a horse, it could also fit on a space bike. And since GW eldar are essentially just space elves it would fit perfectly with no IP infringement.

I agree. I don't recall a GW unit called "robed leader". Sounds legit to me.

Cheers mate, i think i will take that as a complement!, the only part that i used from gw was the biker arm hollding on to the bike which i then heavly(as you can see)green stuffed.
the model you see in the pic is made of resin, and as i stated "you will not get any of the jetbike parts" just the stuff that i have built myself!.The fig is just on the jetbike for show!

cheers

Maybe a close up pic w/o the bike would be better.

I second both requests... pics w/o the bike to see the legs clearly and an unpainted cast to see detail would be appreciated. Also, what materials are you casting with?

The model does look awfully similar to GW's - truly a compliment to your GS skills, but that might be the source of any trouble you get from their IP dept. I've gotten other resin cast models here at Dakka and have been very happy with the results. However, they usually show WIP pics to legitimize their "non-GW model" claims.

I've converted a few fantasy models into robed leaders and space elf shamans and would like to pick up some of the heads if you make them available separately. They're the only bits I have trouble greenstuffing.

If the figures also sit properly on a cavalry model like a horse or space-dinosaur or fantasy cold-blooded riding lizard, that would be ace.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Not really trying to attack anyone here...

but why is it that any time robes and jetbikes come up, people focus on the "realism" of wearing robes when riding a jetbike. Let's not forget that they are psychic space elves that ride on anti-gravity flying bikes with no wheels.

suspension of disbelief is key here...

Lets pretend that eldar jetbikes don't use jet engines that operate by intaking oxygen to burn. So that takes care of the cloth getting sucked into some kind of vent.

It might be a stretch, but lets also pretend that the robes aren't made out of cotton or polyester. They could be magic robes even... magic robes don't rip in a light wind.

I'm sorry I'll deactivate my rant. There is just something about the concept of 'fantasy realism' that pushes my buttons.

I dislike the warlock conversions on bikes that DON'T have robes. To me they all look like mounted dire avengers, or like a unit of autarchs. Robes really make the distinction stylistically for me between 'war aspect' and 'seer aspect'
