I know, I'm hardly original, but the scheme looks great, at least in my humble opinion.

Remember, each of those pics can be clicked through, seen larger, zoomed, and even voted on. Thanks, Legoburner.

Not far off. I don't think they'll ever see a table unless baneblades are involved, if you catch my drift.

Also, your avatar is trying to pull out my endocrine system.

LOL

My first impression was "cool - a whole unit of green stuffed guys!"

;-)

They look good, however I miss the flames and bones of the old LotD.

Legion of the Damned are now in the Space Marine Codex as an elite choice, so it doesn't have to be an Apocalypse game.

Nice look anyway, maybe do something with the flames?

Are they intended to be ghosts?

If so, right on.

If not, where's all the contrast at? Though the painting's great, it's only a step above staring at sprue grey. Give people something to hold their interest?

Wow, I really like that. I wonder whether it is an American/European thing whether you expect ghostly things to be blueish or greenish.

First picture appears slightly blueish, second and third greenish. Just the camera or the lighting, I figure.

Anyway, I am impressed. Once, in a far, distant future, when there are no more armies waiting to be painted, I gotta try doing this.

@Chrysaor686
I agree that a slight hint of colour might give the eyes a point to rest. I'd focus on the eyes/eyeslits on the helmets. Either use a contrast (yellow for green) or stick with the monochrome look and just paint them white. Maybe with some source-lighting from there.

A propos source lighting: Have you thought about giving the base some eerie shine where the LotD stand? I'd even be tempted to use a skull base for those ;-)

@rekindled_passion: I guess it is done with washes, too. It does not look grainy, so it is probably not brushed (or brushed very well with a makeup brush).

Painted armies: 3000+ Nurgle CSM. Converted, yet unpainted armies: Too many.

It's done with thraka green over white. More info on that here: http://www.one-ring.co.uk/phpBB2/kb.php?mode=article&k=581

I've thought about making the flames more blue than green. I think blue flame is more eerie than the standard yellow/red flame. And was thinking about painting the eyes black, similar to the army of the dead from LoTR.

Ever consider painting their eyes red? With some light spilling out around the eye sockets?

I think it might look good with your scheme, and would definately get som much needed contrast in there.

I've taken your advice and painted the lenses in a red series (thin layers Black/Scab/Gore/Blood with a firey orange highlight).

You can really see it on this one. If course, it's as bright as a chick's myspace photo as well. And no, I didn't play with the levels in photoshop.

Now all I need is an Aragorn figure to lead them....

Haha awesomeness. It's nice to see more people using the army of the dead-type schemes on these guys. The red eyes really make them surreal.

I used to know a guy who used pillow stuffing to make his LotD look like they were striding through smoke/fog. Very creepy, but a pain in the pelotas to implement...

Yay! no more of those redonkulous flames all over them!

Seriously, what self respecting xeno wouldn't laugh when they see some marines with that "oh-so-spooky fire" on them?

Anyway, good to see some LotD that don't look like they got trapped in a hot rod shop
