I've been thinking about making a scratch-built warhound for my chaos army, but I don't know what guns to take. I'm thinking 2 vulcans or a vulcan and a turbo laser. Also, is there any difference when using him in a chaos army, or can I use the same datasheet in the apoc hardcover?

I lean towards the turbolaser because it is the best to destroy heavy vehicles, titans, troops in cover and elite units from a long range. 5" Blast is still a pretty big template.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but my main opponents are SM, Tau, 'nids and I think a friend is going to start IG because necrons are too expensive for him. I need anti-infantry, and 15 shots per turn sounds good. I might need to take another look at the inferno cannon, though.

If Necrons are too expensive, he's got no business starting Guard. Plastic Necrons are still one of the best cost-per-point armies.

if i was running a warhound, it would have turbo lasers and the inferno cannon, i like flexibility in my titans, turbo lasers can take on armro and other titans while the inferno cannon can mop up infantry.

Make the weapons that look the best, then tell your opponents before hand what they will count as. I put an Inferno Cannon and a Vulcan on mine, due to the nature of the model (I just like those guns the best). However, if you want the best bang for your buck...just make them counts as Dual Turbo Lasers. They are by far the best choice when it comes to killy.

I posted a thread like this a while ago: this:http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/204665.page#204671
The chaos warhound has some seperate rules which can be found in Forgeworld's Imperial Armor Apocalypse.
Basically it has a dirge caster (modifies the leadership of friendly units within a certain range).
