Hey guys,

Just picked up my White Spray, a present from the cousin for Christmas. So far on the testing front, I shook it for 20-30 minutes, and tried it on a Cadian. To be honest, it just looks like watered down white paint from the pot - there's no even coverage, it seems just to settle in the recesses and it doesn't leave that smooth, matte effect I've seen.

Am I doing something wrong?

check exp. date, maybe out dated can be a effect.

I had a simmular problem.
sollution came when i read aan basic book on modelling.
when mould's are being used they often spray a product on the inside so the plastic or metal doesn't stick to the mould.
Some manufacters wash the sprue's after creating. There are times that the sprue isn't properly cleaned and some residu is left on.
That can be a reason that the paint won't stickor crackles when sprayed upon.
Try it on different models, maybe that's the problem.

Paint can die( figure of speak) from temp. change, like being in freezing or heat conditions after wards.
say goodby to paint.

Hope this helps you out

I just had a similar problem, with mine it took a bit of spraying to get the paint to cover evenly. Sometime in spraycans no matter how good you shake it there will be a lot of propellent that comes out first, then the paint will mix properly and you should get good coverage. I don't know why but the white cans almost always turn out like this. Try spraying the can for a bit then see if it covers better is my suggestion though.

You have to watch temperatures with those things. If it's not 70+ degrees outside, you probably shouldn't be using them. There's also issues with humidity to consider.

I don't use white spray anymore.

I had a few fake snow effects from GW white cans and gave up on them.

GW black on the other hand is brilliant. Never had a problem with it.

Everything now gets undercoated black.

I use Armory white primer. That stuff gives a nice coat.

DING! Your initial problem was using GW primer.

Armory white covers significantly better, for like $6 a can. I'll take that price for the best primer I've ever used.

By far, the best primer I've used, and have used ever since I first used it, Tamiya Fine Undercoat Grey / White / Black. Its awesome stuff, and when dry, it feels like silk on your models.

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

Brilliant.

Thanks guys for the advice. I just realised I shouldn't be spraying -- this morning we have the most snow England has seen in about 20 years, completely stranded. No spraying for me in -4!

Cheers

Yeah, that won't help. I at least have a garage. It isn't heated, but a lot warmer than being outside.

Back when I played 3rd Ed 40K, I foolishly chose white spray over black for my Blood Angels, came out looking almost pink.

Even for mainly white models I'd reccomend going with black, if only to paint over with white by a brush. Just to make sure those recesses stay darker etc.

yea thats actually a fairly common problem with GW paints. TONS of people have had this happen, I use a different primer. Just cheapy black primer works great, doesnt really matter on the brand to be honest. and they are alot cheaper then GW paints

I'd recommend giving Gesso a try. It's cool stuff. Plus you never have to worry about the weather or humidity again.

Ich dachte, dass ich dieses Wort schon gekennt habe, aber ich finde jetzt, dass ich falsch verstanden habe.
