Well, simple question. Which is better for CC needs? A stormshield or a second CC weapon? Also, what other equipment would make the best setup for a dedicated CC Grand Master? I'm putting together a second one for my GKs(so sue me if I like my big expensive guys, I personally love converting GMs, since you can do so much with them), and I've decided that this one will be dedicated for CC. I'm just not sure what the best setup would be.

stormshield is pretty bad since GK storm shield is a one time per turn use and is "Only" 4++. A second CC wep would proberly be the most effective(you want to swing that str 6 force weapon of special character nasty d00m! as much as possible) and maybe a digital weapon(i know its not like the SM version, but it is still useful)

Well, if my gaming club were to consider all storm shields to follow the new Marine dex(not sure if they do, although I've heard some people saying that they do), would the stormsheild be a considerable option? Main reason I'm asking is that during the last game, my termies got eaten alive by a unit of terminators and nobz attacking at once(not to mention a tonne of shooting). The power weaponry was just too much.

Also what other equipment would be advisable for a CC GM? I'm thinking I might incorperate some of it into the conversion.

Want a great close combat GKGM? Give him an incinerator. Nothing like a strength 5 AP4 template to ruin nobs, deamons, or a warlock's day. Then the 5 attacks on the charge should kill anything remaining.

Having issues with terminators? If it is space Marine assault terminators that 2+/3++ really can't be broken too easily.

However against "normal armies" a Nemesis Force weapon & Power Weapon will give you 6 attacks on the charge.

Playing against one form of chaos? Up that power weapon to an annointed weapon to give you extra pop against that possesed vindicator & wound any daemon on a 4+.

If you really want close combat fun give him some grey knight terminators and purchace the holocaust power for both. Two Large pie plates of strength 5 can hit a lot more then what you are in combat with sometimes.

I like the suggestion to take an incinerator! Brilliant.

I'm a proponent of CC GK/DH, and the GK Grand Master is an integral part of that battle plan. I usually equip him pretty simply:

Nemesis Force Weapon
Incinerator
Psychic Hood (unlimited range LD10 hood=Good!)
Sacred Incense (It's affect against Chaos opponents is so extreme that it's worth the 10 pt hit).

Optionally (if I have spare points) I'll master-craft the NFW, or give him an icon of the just, but only if I don't have anything else I can buy another squad.
