Do anyone know if you can still field daemons with a chaos warrior army or is that gone?

Definitely gone - there are no rules in either Army Book allowing mixing the two.
If you want to see the effecct it has, try legendary battles. Daemons / WoC mixtue is horrific (with hell cannon batteries galore...)

Legendary Battles? Is that like Apocalypse for WFB?
On an unrelated note, is there still an interest in low-fantasy games of WFB as there was several years ago? This was an opt in style of play that limited how much magic, mega-fighters, critters you could use in your army.

Legendary Battles allows for alliances between a Daemon Player and Mortal/Beast Player. This however is only if they are 2 distinct armies. So in this case they might need to be 2 seperate 4000 point armies working together.
there is some intrest in low-fantasy games though it is not all that common. Tournaments are mostly 2k-2500 points with little to no comp restrictions. These are the games that are most commonly played in many circles.

They can't use your required slots and count towards your max slots. Edit: Relevant section is on Page 3 of the PDF, second column under "Allied Units".
