I am having a hard time making a good looking "Pallid" skin for pale/undead looking minis. I end up getting albino white looking guys with virtually no depth.
I was wondering if anyone has seen a good tutorial on painting pale, almost white, skin tone, specifically faces.

What I do for my Zombie Guard is:
Basecoat: scorched brown
Drybrush/wetbrush depending on texture needed: rotting flesh
Wash: ogryn flesh
Highlight: 50/50mix rotting flesh/bleached bone.
Creates depth, and covers any colr completely.
Good luck!

Basecoat: Ice blue
First highlight: 50/50 Ice blue & bleached bone
Wash: thinned down Asurmen blue
Second highlight: 50/50 Ice blue & Skull white
Final highlight: 20/80 Ice blue & Skull white
Wash: thinned down Asurmen blue
This takes a bit of care but will give you a really crisp yet pale finish that keeps it's depth. Depending on taste you could use a purple wash instead of the blue; just depends on what other main colours you're going to be matching the skin with!

I used a base of Deneb Stone
wash with Thraka green
1st High light with deneb stone (this gives a decomposing look)
you can add whit to the Deneb Stone if you want to make the flesh evan lighter.

add a bit purple to your flesh, it will give depth and make the skin look really "creepy"

this will sound very weird, but it works well
paint the whole area tenticle pink
wash with a purple ink
heavy highlight with bleached done
light highlight with graveyard earth
has a very nice undead yet deep contrast to it.

i too was going to suggest basing the flesh part in purple. Then drybrush over that with your normal skin tone and then use a purple ink. That will give them a nice undead look.

I find that a purple base gives a very 'Dark Elfy' look to the skin. Blue base gives a more ethereal quality. I do like the sound of mighty moj's green wash idea tho... Woud help with the rotting look

All great ideas said. I love undead! You can play with freshly dead or been dead a while. I think most of us have the same process switching out base coats for different effects.. But Flesh is hard to do weather its living or decaying. I usually mix a lot of colors, especially if the mini has bone showing.
Noting that there will be pus, bruising, blue and green tones in the skin and the usually bloody areas will darken also to a dark brown and purple for meaty areas.
Off the top of my head this is where I would start.
Base flesh : 1:1 Rotting Flesh/ Warlock Purple
1st HL: Desert Yellow
2nd HL: 1:1 Desert Yellow/ Rotting Flesh
3rd HL: Rotting flesh
1st Shadow: 1:1 Warlock Purple/ Regal Blue
2nd Shadow: Regal Blue
ALL these mixes should be diluted with at least 1/3 H20, and or Medium. Liquitex Flow Aid is your friend!
