Cultist of Nurgle with Open Sores

Connecticut

Just recently picked up the codex so still dabbling with possibilities, but this is what I came up with so far..

Ku'Gath 300(2)
Epidemius 110(1)

7 Beasts 255(1)
Noxious
7 Beasts 255(1)
Noxious
7 Beasts 255(2)
Noxious

12 PBs 180(1)
7 PBs 105(2)
7 PBs 105(2)

DP 145
MoN, Gaze, Noxious, Cloud(1)
DP 145
MoN, Gaze, Noxious, Cloud(1)
DP 145
MoN, Gaze, Noxious, Cloud(2)

Group of 12 keeps Epi company while DPs and Beasts do their job on troops to stack up tallys. Only problem I can see is lack of anti-tank .. and quite a large one at that. Comments plx? ;P

Take only one squad of beasts, until the tally is up, they suck.
Plow the points into more PBs and wings for some (all if you want) DPs. DPs with wings are AT.

You really do have no way to kill tanks other than hth. Also why are you paying for all the noxious touch upgrades?, eventually you should get them for free from Epidemius.

If you want anti-tank in the list, you either have to rely on close combat with monstrous creatures or put in some non-nurgle units or soul grinders.

I'm not a big fan of Ku'gath and Epidemius. I think you can make a perfectly nasty nurgle army without either.

If you are going to use the DP's to pop tank's pay the extra points for wings and iron hide, that will give them a decent chance of making it to the tank.

I would suggest dropping one of the beasts unit's and giving all the dp's wings or at least 2 of them and drop all of your noxious touche's, and that might give you enough points to iron hide all the daemon princes.

Try Ku'Gath but I think the normal GUO is a steal for half the price. With the difference between the two you could add another herald on a palaquin with breath of chaos to try to rack up some early kills.

Nurglings work alot better than beasts in a Epidemus list.

Beasts - 2 wounds, FNP, Poisned attacks, D6 attacks

Nurglings - 3 wounds, Improved cover, 3 attacks, almost 1/3 the cost.

Also remember that a PB is essentially 1/2 of a beast at a reduced cost, but can claim objectives.

Once you hit the 10 tally nurglings become insane. Nothing like charging a unit of marines and doing `20 wounds with a 117 pnt squad.

Beasts are very expensive to buy aswell. Your looking at about 450 for just the beasts and they are a pain to assemble.

London (work) / Pompey (live, from time to time)

drop a unit of beasts, use those points to throw wings on 1 prince (mobile anti tank) and bolster the plagues, or, get some nurglings for keeping units busy.

clay, that is true with the profiles, but beasts take alot more work to get rid of.

your picking out the better stats there

beasts have: +1 WS, +1 S, +2 T, they also have FNP, and swarms take more damage from blast / flame

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

True true.

But I disagree that Beasts take longer to get rid off than Nurglings. Improved cover saves give them a 3+ in most situations and a for a little under the price of one unit of beasts gives you 2 9 man units at 54 wounds compared to 14.

The +1 WS doesnt matter as your not IC or elite hunting with Nurglings your trying to take down masses. To further that someone would have to be off thier rocker to hit a unit of nurglings with an IC (I say IC because they are the majority of WS 5).

+1 str should be negated fairly quick in his list due to the tally. Rerolls are overkill at that point.

FNP and +1 wound are pretty even in the current format. The beasts will recieve alot of high ap/str weapons attention. To a nurgling this doesnt matter.

If you go model by model yes beasts are harder to get rid of. If you look at it point for point a nurgling is the better buy for the epidemus list.
