I was just wondering how many here that see "buy it now" listed with an item on Ebay just glide by the thing being sold, since in most cases the price same or more after shipping is added in as what you'd get it for at a regular store. I can understand getting something if it's a hard to find item, but most of the regular items listed that way make no sense to me, and I don't know how these items get sold.

I've used Buy It Now a number of times, generally, if the person selling isn't a complete idiot and pricing it stupidly, it's a nice way to get what you're looking for without having to wait seven days or risk someone else sniping the auction from under you.

Depends what I'm buying, but I tend to favour Buy It Now.

Not everyone has access to a GW store. My FLGS is small and doesn't carry everything I want, it can be weeks before an order comes in. I prefer to buy there to help keep the money in the local economy, but sometimes I don't want to wait and will turn to ebay, even if I end up paying retail. A lot of america doesn't have a FLGS near them at all, and it's not going to get better over the next year..

I almost always use Buy It Now, since that means I get what I want and I'm not going to be out-bid.
Of course, since I do actually have at least two brain cells to rub together, before I use it, I check the shipping, and how often previous auctions have exceeded the price I'll be paying, etc etc.
The fact that some sellers use the BIN option poorly doesn't make it a made choice.
