One of my friends has an army that has beaten most of the WH40k players at my school and we have scheduled a game. I am running-

HQ - 245
Brother Captain+ 4 Termie Retinue

Heavy Support - 300
Dread with blessed and EA, Lascannon and ML
Dread with blessed and EA, Lascannon and CCW (with storm bolter)

Troops - 450
3x PAGK squads, 1 Justicar+ 4 PAGKs each squad

He is running a footslogging army with many boyz, and at least 10 lootas+ nobz and a warboss. He also is using 3 deffkoptas and 3 killa kans, with possible non-nob bikers as well. How should I fight such an army with above?

Can you drop the TL Lascannons for TL Autocannons? How about incinerators in your squads? If so, then I can see your build standing up to his Orks if try for a gun-line and blast away. Other than that, I'd recommend focusing your fire on as few units as possible so you can over kill each of his units, which should weaken him faster than he came weaken you. Also, you can tar-pit him if he decides to assault you by exposing as few of your squads to assault as possible.

Just some thoughts.

Switching the dreads isnt practical, and if I take incins, I'll have to lose troops :(

So tactics wise I should give him as few units to assault as possible, and what unit(s) do I have to kill if I want any chance?
Will Storm bolter fire from 21 models be able to kill sufficient orks (mathhammer request )

Orks have a lot of difficulty with Land Raiders. I'd suggest running the following:

Brother Captain (Holocaust could be a nice addition here, as Deadshane1 already stated).
2x Grey Knight squad with 2x Incinerator.
2x Land Raider Crusader.

Just keep your troops in the Land Raider Crusaders and try to kill his unit that will be a threat for your LRC's. If you get the opportunity to seperate one of his boy squads from the rest of his army with a tank shock, you can unload your cargo, shoot and charge that same boyz squad. Your LRC will now be blocking LoS to the rest of his army, so he will not be able to kill your squad. Next turn just hop back in the LRC.

Drop the dreads, get some more GKT and incinerators. Holocaust is love.

And I can't help but reccommend the GK Grand Master. In the eventuality that is close combat, he wrecks everything. In assault with an extra close combat weapon, he'll kill 3.33 boys on average on the charge, along with holocaust. But that's not what he's meant for. Sick him on the biggest, nastiest targets your opponent has. Be it a warboss, KFF Mek, or Ghazghkul himself, he can kill any one of them in a single attack.

Also, more incinerators. You can take two of them in each PAGK squad, and one for each termie squad. Line them both up right, and you can get upward of 10 boys per shot. That means about 7 boys per shot. Of course, that takes some good luck and placement.

I will also reccomend the LR crusader. You really need more dakka. Also, incinerators!

Orks call for obcene amounts of gunfire and templates.

Your biggest point sink is the Captain and his Terminators. You're paying a pile of points for power weapons to tear through a 6+ armor save.

I'd say take an Inquisitor Lord with 3 6 pt henchmen instead, and a Land Raider Crusader. If you can get autocannons on the dreads, that would be beneficial to you as well. Beyond that, simply wall off units with the Crusader and pour bolter fire into the Boyz.

Well besdes what info has been given already (really good stuff) I would suggest using cover to your advantage (if you stick with all footslogging GK) because those lootas will put a hurt on your army (as shrouding isn't as good as it use to be). I would also concentrate fire to the best of your abilities and charge them if you can.

If you can change the list, i'd suggest you drop the dreads in favour of a land raider, orks just can't deal with them.

Also drop 1 termie and buy some psycannons for the termies as they're very good. And spend any leftovers on targeters for the PAGK and an extra man, if possible.

If you can't change the army, it'll be tougher.

As far as tactics go I'd deploy fairly far forward on one flank (so you only fight half his army at a time), and concentare your fire into his squads. When he gets closer fall back into cover where availible. As grey knights really hurt when they hit first.

Hope that helps ya, good luck with the game man.

By the way I've been playin orks for 2 years and have dabbled in grey knights so i'm not talking out my arse.

Mookie.

Hey now, don't overhype. =p Nothing kills Ghazghkull in a single attack - he's invulnerable to instant death, and when you meet him, its likely to be on the Waaugh! with a 2+ invulnerable save.

His Lootaz will shred dreadnaughts. You might want to take the squad of GKs that can teleport to come in behind his lines and target the Lootaz. He will have big problems with a landraider.
