Hi folks,
Am I right if I assumed that the living metal rule ignores the extra armor penetration dice rolled by rending weapons wounding on sixes?
I'm asking because I play a Necron player this tuesday and I'm going to field Maugan Ra. Curious if he can rend the monolith away, but I guess not.
Thanks for the answers.

A new day, a new time zone.

Rending doesn't work.

Agree. Swooping Hawks will be your best best to drop the monolith.

Linked prisms cannons are great. S10, Ap 1, twin-linked, and with a pretty good chance to actually hit.

Really good actually, as they are AP 1.

Tis why I have 2 in my new 1850 build.

I enjoy taking both Railguns (Tau) and Powerklaws (Orks) against Monoliths. =)

No you cannot rend against necron living metal and (for the eldar and dark eldar out there) it ignores the effects of lance weapons.

Anything AP1 is good. Multiple wraithcannon or firedragons are good.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Yes you can, check FAQ. I'm not sure if you get the +1 to Strength for Furious Charge though as I seem to remember that the second printing of the Necrons Codex has different wording than the first printing (that I got).

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"...

Oh wow. I had a huge thread about that exact issue. The language specificly calls out doubling not being allowed.

IMO RAW, no bonuses, no doubling means powergloves are not S8 (or klaws at S8 or 10) but the community really shot that down, presumabley because people hate monoliths.

The counter argument says that a powerglove doubles someones S characteristic, so the models S is technically 8 and there is no bonus.

Good luck opening up this one again, the last thread I was in was inconclusive. (I think that was in 4th ed actually).

Fortunately, that one is part of the Necron FAQ:
Necron FAQ wrote:Q. Does a model with a powerfist/claw that attacks a Monolith get to double its Strength for armour penetration rolls?
A. Yes, powerfists/claws, thunder hammers, and so on still double their user’s Strength when attacking a Monolith.

I've started embracing the "naked fire prism" approach. As such, 230 pts to shoot at a 230 pt. Monolith seems downright balanced.

Indeed.

I am glad the fist is in the FAQ.

My group have all shelved their cron armies since 5th came out, with the assault rules and vehicle CC rules being what they are.
