Skink Chief with Poisoned Javelins
|
The rules of this game are:
One player creates a magic item (specifying the army).
The second player critiques this item, and then makes their own. Or, you can set a challenge for the next poster.
I'll kick this off.
Vampire Shield (VC) 60 points
When the equipped character causes an unsaved wound, choose one of the below:
Blood Spray-one unit within 18" & line of sight suffers D6 strength 1 poisoned attacks.
Infuse-The character gains one of the below:
Bloodfury- +1 strength, +1 Initiative, frenzy
Petrification-+1 wound, +1 toughness, always strikes last
Bloodsword-+1 Attack, +1 WS, -1 strength
Bloodsteed-+2 Movement
Have fun!

Nice job there. Although I'm slightly scared that low-level heroes will cart this around and screw up any low Ld army. maybe Lords-only or up the points cost.
Also, you forgot to review my one or post a challenge.
Next: Make an enchanted bow of some sort.

good fun, but I think there's too many options available. For simplicity sake, I say narrow it down to three effects. Outside of that, It think it'd work great.

I actually based it's effects vs price compared to the hide of the cold one in the new lizardmen army book. It gives +1 toughness, counts as heavy armor (which lizardmen don't normally have access to that due to their scaly skin saves. It also causes fear, all for 50 pts. But I suppose breaking the 50 pt mark wouldn't hurt it too much.

It's not quite what you had in mind, I suspect, but:
Great Bow of Tlanxa (Lizardmen)
40pts
Magic Weapon
Skink Chiefs riding an Ancient Stegadon or a Stegadon only.
The bolts fired by this bow almost seek out those with power, flying true to strike them down.
This replaces the standard Giant Bow or the two Giant Blowpipes on the howdah of a Stegadon. It is always fired using the Skink Chief's BS.
It is treated as a normal Bolt Thrower, except the bearer may choose which model to shoot at. This must be a model in the facing that the Stegadon can fire at, and if this option is used the shot suffers a -1 To Hit penalty. Look Out Sir may be used against this as normal.
If the target is a Hero or Lord, the shot gains an additional +1 modifier to wound the target. It counts as normal S for the remaining ranks.

Anyway

Actually, I think this item is a whee bit overpowered as it can be combined with other items in the lizardmen army book to become even more powerful. Imagine a unit of skink skirmishers with a chieftain battlestandard bearer with the sun standard and a lord choice with this item. It would be a -4 to shoot even before you added in long range and cover. Also, it's somewhat redundant as the sun standard does the same thing against shooting and the amulet of quetzl does the same thing in close combat (although only -1 to hit, not -2) P4NC4K3 wrote:Maybe this would've been better off in the Survivor Games/Chain Fiction Forum Anyway Race: Orcs and Goblins Item Name: Concealed Squig Description: Somewhere on his person the Orc has concealed a hungry Squig, at some point he will release it and it will attack his foes before bounding off or dying Limitations: Orcs only, One Use Only Points: 18 When used, the Squig causes D6 Str 3 hits on any enemies in base contact, on the roll of a 1, the squig attacks the Orc. I guessed for points cost, I thought 15 was too cheap and 20 too dear, so I went inbetween, and my street has a 23 mph speed limit and no-one has died as long as it has been in place! But thanks for complementing my brilliance! Lol

Nice, but I think it should be a little more expensive...
Race: Daemons of Chaos
Name: Uncontrollable Madness
Points: 10
Limitations: Daemons of Tzeentch only
Description: The Daemon has been 'blessed' with a portion of Tzeentch's unpredictability, unfortunately this leaves them raving mad...
Rules: At the start of each turn, roll 1D6 and consult the table below (do not roll if the Daemon is in Close Combat)
1-BLAGGLEFRAGGLE!: The Daemon goes totally mad and attacks his allies, resolve all of the Daemons ranged attacks on the nearest Allied unit (LOS not required!) If the Daemon is in a unit, then it must instead perform all of it's Close Combat attacks against the unit, (not counting any bonuses from magic items etc)
2-Unstable: The Daemon Flickers in and out of reality, confusing his foes and himself, the Daemon and any Unit it is in must immediatly take an instability test as if it had lost a combat by 1 point, but enemy units cannot target the Daemon/s with spells, shooting attacks or charges, the Daemon/s do not block march moves this turn
3-Duh?: The Daemon's intellect temporarily vanishes, leaving a slavering zombie, the Daemon and any Unit it is in are subject to Stupidity this turn
4-YEARRRRGH!: The Daemon flings itself forward, desperate for BLOOD!, The Daemon and any Unit it has joined are subject to Frenzy for this turn
5-Power! Sweet power!: The Daemon suddenly finds itself capable of channeling more magic than it did before, the Daemon generates 1 extra power and dispel dice this turn
6-Master of Sorcery: The Daemon suddenly finds itself infinitely more capable a spell caster, The Daemon instantly gains 1 Wizard Level, randomly generate it's new spell each time you roll this, this also means the Daemon generates an extra dispel/power dice (note that if the Daemon is already level 4, it counts as being level 5, even though this doesn't normally exist!)
All effects of the Madness are replaced by the next roll, they never last more than a turn

Race: Tomb Kings
Item Name: Banner of the Marching Dead
Type: Magic Standard
Description: This Magic Icon long served to rally the armies of King Rah-nutt, and their pace was exceeded only by the swift chariot of the King himself
Limitations:None
Points:60
Effect: Bound Spell, Power Level 4. Casts Mankara's Incantation of Urgency. May only be cast on the unit containing the banner.
Tomb Kings need this badly in order for Icon bearers to be useful. Note the points value, preventing this to be given to a normal unit without the icon bearer. The banner could also be 100/125 points, but with a higher power level. As it is, the Icon bearer becomes a bit more like a reliable Tomb Prince. Sadly, the Prince is probably still better....

I don't play TK, so cannot comment on Vaul's item However, here's one of my own Race: Wood Elves Item Type: Spite Cost: 15 points Name: A Snatch of Thievlings Description: The Highborn's cloak contains a swarm of Thievlings, malicious pests that like to steal things Rules: In any round of combat, the user may unleash the Thievlings on any model in base contact, unless the target can roll a 6 on 1D6, any one magic or mundane item it bears (WE players choice) is temporarily transferred to the Highborn/Noble, they may use it this turn. However, Thievlings cannot be used on the same unit twice, as after one use everyone firmly secures their belongings EDIT: Changed the name to Thievlings, it sounds more Spite-y

Hmm, P4NC4K3, I like it, but perhaps either a points increase, (20) or make it an initiative test rather than a 6, thus making it easier for the opponent to "dodge" the item. Anyways, here's mine Race: Dark Elves Item Name: Soulflayer Description: "The Soulflayer is a weapon dreaded by all of the mortal races. With it, a man's immortal soul is flayed into shreds, then released into the Realm of Chaos, suffering eternal torment forever. Limitations: None Points: 70 Effect: For every wound suffered, Roll a D6. Consult the Chart Below. On a 6, after the effect takes place, the sword becomes a mundane hand weapon with +1 S and Killing Blow. 1. The Soulflayer backfires as its victims are brought back from the Realm of Chaos. Both the character holding the weapon and EVERY model in base contact, friend of foe, takes a S5 hit with no armor saves (regen is allowed, as are ward saves) 2-3 The opposing model somehow survives the Soulflayer's abilities. Nothing is done. 4-5 The opposing model takes an additional D3 wounds with no type of save or regeneration allowed. 6. The opposing model's soul is flayed in a horrid display of gore and bone. Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

They are only 15 points because they can only be used on each unit once and the effects only last 1 turn.
But nice item! It isn't overpowered and relies purely on luck! Although result 4-5, D3 what? Hits? Wounds? Pies?
Anyway, item no. 4 from the vault of P4NC4K3
Race: Dwarfs
Item Type: Runic Talisman
Name: Rune of Control
Points Cost: 40
Restrictions: Runesmiths only, One per army
Description: The Rune of Control allows the wearer to exert a modicum of control over the speed of nearby enemies, slowing them to a crawl.
Rules: The wearer (and any unit he has joined) block enemies from marching within 16" of them, rather than the usual 8"

And to this day, on darkest nyte
It can be seen, they tell
A Prynce of Rattes, in finery
Upon a horned bell.
