If UPS is to be believed, my FW Vulture is to arrive tomorrow. I was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of with the assembly/painting of it.

This is not the first thing I have ordered from FW, but it is the largest. Already have a Elysian army of 61 Elysians and 2 drop sentinals, and getting another 30 men and another sentinal with the Vulture.

Having an airspray gun would help lots.

pinning the resin parts would be a good idea too
since the model is pretty big and heavy.

Be prepared to have a bowl of hot water ready. I've heard the Valkyries and Vultures are hell to fit together and are prone to misshapen pieces.

2nd that one.

Valks commonly suffer from warped tail booms and wings. Mismatched hull sides and your average shrinky-dink issues.

Be prepared for the eventuality that you may just end up pitching the entire thing at a wall to be done with it. (I did finish assembling and priming mine, but was so shat off by it that I ended up selling it to someone else FOR A LOSS just to be rid of it.)

I've heard that about the Valkyries. That's why I'm going to wait for the GW plastic ones. But needed a Vulture for Heavy Support for my Elysians.

Thanks for the input.

-Have an air brush (got it before I was married or I never would have been able to )
-Water ready. Learned that with my Elysian Drop Troops. Which parts are usually the worst?
-Which parts are usually the ones that needs pinning? I think someone once said the wings usually need them, anywhere else?

Just got a Vulture in myself about a week ago. Aside from one wing being broken in half, everything else was actually fine, no need to bend or anything. The break was clean so it went right together with no extra work as well.

Maybe I just got lucky, but i won't complain.

Not lucky, fortunately. The greatest thing about Resin is that it breaks clean and is easy to repair if it ever breaks.

Here's some general wisdom that I picked up when I got a vulture. Pretty much all of this advice is self taught, as pretty much everything went wrong for me.

I'm not sure if it still applies, but when I got it, paint didn't stick unless it was spray-paint, and even then, I needed to clean all the parts with an abrasive cleaning product so that the paint stuck.

The bottom fins are not good for resting the model on and they will bend and eventually snap off, so mount it using one of the big rods and a base if you don't want to constantly be regluing, pinning or resting it upside down.

Paint the pilots before putting them in. (I did do this, and it's worth painting them well)

If you're into that sort of thing, magnetise the weapon points. It's nice to have a variety of weapons.

Read the instructions VERY carefully as they aren't quite as clear as normal gw instructions. I ended up glueing the wings on backwards.

Pin things like the tail fins and the bottom fins and whatnot.

Thanks for all the advice.

Surprisingly enough my Vulture has only one warped piece (gunner cockpit) and everything is going together quite well. Now I just need to find a stand base and finish magnetizing the other wing.
