Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I'm participating in an RTT tomorrow, and can't make up my mind about which strategy to take.

I'm using my wife's Orks tomorrow, and they're going to be mechanized (mobile) full of trukk boyz and such. I've been using option 1 below, because I thought putting a Killakannon made a battlewagon non-open topped, but I've learned differently, so now I'm not sure what to do. Option one or option 2?

Option 1:

Ghazghkull + 10 Nobs go in a trukk with Red Paint. Mad Dok Grotsnik + 19 'Ard Boyz go into a Battlewagon with a DeffRolla, kannon, and Red Paint.

Option 2:

Ghazghkull + 10 Nobs go in the battlewagon, which gets upgraded with a Killakannon in addition to the kannon, red paint, and Deff Rolla. Mad Dok's unit of 'Ard Boyz gets downgraded to 11 models, and now 11 'Ard Boyz and Mad Dok go into a trukk.

Thoughts?

First, you can only take the killkanon if the BW is a Heavy slot...the dedicated transport cannot have one.

Second, if you plan on rushing fowrad with Ghaz and frieds, then the Killkannon will never fire.

It seems like a major waste of points.
