I really like the Corsair models, but I recognize that they're not really meant to be fielded
in large numbers. Would it be too distracting to field Corsair models paired with arms
from the Warriors sprue to represent spearmen or repeater bowmen, or arms from the
Wood Elves sprues to represent shades?
I put it in YMDC since my question would affect gameplay.

Personally, if you made the weapon options quite apparent and explained ahead of time, I wouldn't care. They're all armed rather differently, afterall.

There should be no problem as far as WYSIWYG is concered (apart from the Sea Dragon Cloaks on the models) if they are armed with either Spears or RXBs.

as stated, make it look clear what weapons they have and there should be no problems.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor. |

Thanks for the feedback.
This is long term, of course. The hardest thing is going to be
making those weapons rank up. Corsair models aren't very
forgiving with their own equipment!
Disclaimer: This is all very 3-5 months ahead of time. If you haven't noticed, I tend
to ask a bunch of questions before my work queue opens up for modeling/painting.

I have a box of corsairs that I was pondering for the same purpose(as my current ones are actually old chaos cultist conversions that look nice, but don't fit the theme of all the newly designed figs). I am thinking about making them into shades, giving them great weapons and just mentioning they are my shades. With different weapons/formations I don't anticipate any trouble feilding them as such.
