Could someone enlighten me about the golden throne?

Is it symbolic? is there a succession of emperors who sit on the throne of the Imperium? Is there a rotting body up there? "For the Emperor!" Symbolic, or a real person? Born into the position? Who is he? Veteran of any wars? Someone fill me in.

I don't play space marines. I play Tau. I've been playing 40k long enough to know my army, my wife's orks pretty well, and have a pretty decent grasp of the rules. I also know a bit about other armies in terms of saves/toughness/stuff like that. Fluff? I know none.

But as mentioned it's all in the rule book. Has all the background you could need to get to know any of the armies. So it's a great place to start.

OK, two of those links are broken, but I understand that the emperor was a dude and is now dead, while his spirit is sustained by the barbaric sacrifice of millions of hos subjects.

As a Tau commander, I thank you for the insight, and look forward to the day when my forces perpetuate the fall of the Golden throne and help humanity ascend from pagan rituals and barbaric and blind traditions towards enlightenment and furthering the greater good of all.

Well, if its hard to read what someone is writing because they're illiterate, then perhaps they should be witholding from the conversation. Its one thing to not be a native English speaker, which is just fine...you speak another language and are working hard to master a second. But when you can't even speak ONE language semi-fluently, you're in trouble.

GW is almost anal about they're support for the Imperium...in fact everything is written from the point of view of the Imperium.

I find it hard to believe that someone, so into GW games doesn't kow about the Space Emp!.....like everyone has mentioned, if you own the rules you can find out as much as everyone else about the Emperor.....

Forgive my interruption and/or inflammitory statements, but the Tau's Ivory tower crumbles in short order....The so-called "Greater Good" involves bombarding people into submission....how, Imperial....well with the exception of the Vespid. Thank goodness There was Tau advanced technology to provide special helmets so that the Vespid Leaders would be able to "Communicate"... Small wonder they joined the Greater good immediately thereafter....

Of course, this is moot, I am missing the forest but for the trees. This is not a debate of Philosophy. I do disagree that the Fluff is written with a definite Bias towards Imperial thinking, it does take into account how prolific the Imperium is compared to other races.
But at the end of the Day, No one is clean. That is one thing I love most about the Fluff from 40k, there are no innocents. The closest thing to Philisophically clean would either be the Tyranids, or the Orks.

That having been said, its time to tow the party line...
