Of course, this is moot, I am missing the forest but for the trees. This is not a debate of Philosophy. I do disagree that the Fluff is written with a definite Bias towards Imperial thinking, it does take into account how prolific the Imperium is compared to other races.
But at the end of the Day, No one is clean. That is one thing I love most about the Fluff from 40k, there are no innocents. The closest thing to Philisophically clean would either be the Tyranids, or the Orks.

I'm sorry Blazefury but about 789 of your bloodletters will need to hop back in the warp for while. This table is for painted minis only. Yes, the four primered ones can stay.

Also you may need to give my Wood Elves a little time to swap out for a more appropriate army. I think I brougt my Necrons with me. If not I have some Steel Legion out in the car.

Or we could play Song of Blood and Heroes and wing it.

The truth is Tau are slaves to a C'tan. The Emperor will be reborn as the starchild when Cypher stabs him with the original lion's sword. In the mean time the Emporer guides mankind via the astronomicon... without it mankind would quickly perish. I suppose 1000 psykers a day is a small price to pay.

And yet you call other people self-righteous? Hmm. I do believe we've run into a textbook case of "Tau-player syndrome"...

Nah, I'm just joking with yah. If you can't be a hypocrite on the internet, then what CAN you do?

Anyhoo. The Emperor, to sum it up, was a genocidal mass-murderer. Killed thousands of aliens, and any humans who didn't ascribe to his ideals. Of course, this really was the only path to take if humanity was to survive in the cold darkness of space...

And this comes from a die-hard Loyalist Marine player.

That said, I find it hard to believe that any player could not know even a little bit about the Emperor. It's basically the whole premise of 40k. (Say what you will, the majority of conflict in the 40k universe revolves around the Corpse-Emperor. Even a rudimentary knowledge of "Teh floof" would show you that...) Didn't you read the first page of the rulebook???

The argument over whether or not the Emperor was a good-guy or a bad-guy has been done to death in every 40k forum there is. So let's not start it. Whether his actions are justifiable or not will vary immensely depending on your individual opinions/biases. (And yes, I realize it might be hard for a fish-head to understand the concept of "individual opinions", but people are all unique and everyone ascribes to a different viewpoint. The Ethereals are not the only source of knowledge and opinion. There is also the internet. Don't let the pheromone fish tell you what to think!!!)

Uhh, the tau are not as an entirety enslaved by the c'tan, although it is possible that Farsight unwittingly serves one of them (Not Khorne) because of the sword he found.
Oh, and there are no "good guys" in the 40k universe, you're army rests on a spectrum that ranges from "evil" to "not as evil".

The Tau are mind controlled by the ethereals by way of special organs. The only tau to truly break away from their control decided the greater good wasn't so great after all. Kroot chose to join, but it had more to do with profiting their race then furthering some greater good. It sounds like the tau subjugated the Vespid...so the only ones truly dedicated to the greater good are the small number of tau that is the ethereal population.

A similar case can be produced for any other "good" race.

Standing right behind you...

The Emperor:

Through the mass suicide of thousands of shamans and magicians across the human population the Emperor was born. With his guidance Mankind flourished and prospered. Having the bright idea to clone himself the Emperor created 20 clones of himself whom then cloned themselves and created their own armies.

Blah blah...we all know the Horus Heresy.

So now the rotting Corpse of the Emperor sits on a massive, failing, life support-chair. Every passing second the Emperor's consciousness battles in the Immaterium to hold back the Daemonic threat.

At that Mankind can only be saved if someone were able to bypass the security to the Golden Throne and destroy the physical body of the Emperor - thus restarting the 'Star Child' cycle and allowing him to be reborn.

Why is it painted only in the fluff forum? and never the less simply since im new to the forum doesnt mean im a twelve year old who deosnt know anything about the hobby (except for that khorne is the blood god, obvously). I do not have 800 painted bloodletters (who the heck does?!), since i have been playing actively for only a year or two. but please, a little respect would be fitting to make new users stay on the forum. (and btw, i have 16 fully painted bloodletters wich i happen to be pretty proud of)

The Emperor does indeed sit upon the Golden Throne, physically wasting away while his mind continues to shape and form the Imperium (as per Inquisition War).

As for the rest I reckon you've visited the links.

As for the Tau, I'm waiting for them to officially become a protectorate of the Eldar. It's going to happen and when it does - DOOM.

No, I've never actually read the rule book. I've read the relevant parts to playing games, and deciding how to settle actions on the table, but I've not gotten into anyone's fluff except for my own.

Funny that the imperium advocates around here can't believe that the rest of us aren't enthralled with their own history and fluff.

Funny that some Tau players think that their fluff actually fits in the 40k universe.

Seriously though, it kinda... Does fit, you know? I just have had a lot of bad games against Tau, so I'm a little bitter.

As far as the Emperor goes, I need say little more than:

This "corpse" could still fry your tiny minds in a heartbeat, so step back lest ye be immolated.

Also, (and I quote) "he's got like, a bajillion-million-katrillion Spesh Mahrenez guarding himz, so he are lyke towtes invulnrible! Tewtally! Rockzorz on my brotherz! We shall pwn the noobz, for we are 1337 hackzorz who play awsome Spesh Mahren armayz! Rawck On!"

Still waiting for future Chaos release when the Emperor dies, and Imperium gets thrown into disarray and Chaos takes the opportunity to strike.

The marines would take one last stand with Eldar and Tau woot to drive off Chaos.

Andrecus, we're not connected to the warp. There shall be no frying of minds.

And honestly, if the space time continuum were to continue on its present track with all fluff included, I don't think chaos would get to take down the Imperium. Rather, the Tyranids would devour the entire galaxy.

Hopefully we'll have a new codex by then too, eh?

True, true. I meant "you" as in the more general population of the galaxy, not just the Tau. Though I figure Corpse-boi could just fry em through the Niccassar anyhow. (That's the name of the psychic race they "allied with" right? From BFG? Lol.)

It's not that... it's just that most of the Imperium fluff is stamped on the inside page of every BL book.

The way I see the Emperor is not as a good guy or a bad guy, when he truly lived and walked amongst the rest of the mere mortals. He ruled with an Iron fist and did whatever had to be done to save humanity. The man was a dictator who essentially said were going to do it my way or we're all going to die.

PS: Read the fluff in the rulebook. I only play Orks, but i've read the fluff for just about every other army - you know, so i'd have an idea of whats going on in the 40K universe and the fluff, in part, is why I chose Orkz. WE'RE DA BEST.

The emperor does not 'sit' upon the golden throne - as if it were some holy venerated toilet. Although to have such a toilet centred upon Nottingham seems appropos.

His moribund body is entombed within what is essentially a huuuuuuge iron lung, and the sacrifice of 1000 psykers a day is needed to both keep him going and to power the astronomican beacon.

His followers do so with a devotion that is fanatical. His forces use "suicide" warriors (Penitent engines/arco flaggellants who aren't expected to survive their battles - and used to use entire battalions of "penitents" and 'human bombs'). And this is while he is still alive. Their fanaticism will triple when the big e finally shuffles of his percha nd joins the choir invisible.

You cannot 'reason' with fanatics - they seek only to die for their cause. So, help them along. Virus bomb earth and be done with it. While we're at it, do the same to the tau worlds and the orks can be taken out with a decent fungicide (they are just a mutant form of athlete's foot, after all).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Ghetto_Fight you are absolutely right many human colonies did willingly join the Tau empire. Of course, when you get right down to it, based off of a decade of reading 40k Fluff, I have come to the unassailable conclusion that in the Grim future of the 41st millenium, the decision making skills of humanity are questionable at best.... The Emperor of man, when he was mobile, unified the Galaxy by the sword. Although, in His defence, Violence is an extremely effective method of conflict resolution.

I like the varying shades of gray approach to the 40k fluff. I think WHFB backstory is very Dull simply because the clear lines between good and evil. Even the written fluff from the Evil side of things is written in such a way as a villan trying to justify heinous acts. in summation:

Space Marines- Brainwashed Genetically enhanced killing machines
IG- the "Volunteer" Army of the imperium. Highly motivated, just ask the Comissar with the Bolt Pistol
Daemonhunters- Heavily indoctrinated version of the previous two, led by an Fanatical Loony
Witchhunters- Indoctrinated Nuns with Guns since they decided on a literal interpretation of the law...
Necrons- Pissed off because they never read the "Robot Legs" Clause in the contract until the Blood/Ink Dried
Eldar- Emo Space elves that built their house millenia ago, but still refuse to live in it
Dark Eldar- See above, only with Leather and whips and Even MORE self denial
Tau- Heavily Armed, just finished first year of college
Orks- Large, Green, Spacefaring Soccer Hooligans....Get to ignore physics
CSM-"Death to the False EMP-.......Dude this armor is starting to stink"
Demons- More! More! More!.....More boobs! More Blood! More Boils! :O
Tyranids- Nom Nom.....Mmmm......Tastes like Biomatter....

I like almost everyone's fluff, I like that everyone KNOWs that they are right, and I like that everyone is as guilty as their neighbor.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the coffee in this cup that thoughts aquire speed, teeth aquire stains, stains serve as a warning. it is by will alone I set my mind in motion...
