So, at the feet of every metal model is a straight band of metal, which whenever I try to remove leaves two large hunks of metal that I can't seem to cut, and have to work on with my hobby knife which takes forever and scares the hell out of me since I've already cut myself once rather badly. Wtf should I do to make this easier?

I use a metal file to remove those hunks. doesn't take very long.

you ought not to remove that piece, it fits into the slotta base and keeps the model attached.

Use the sloted base it comes with. I know right now it looks like eye sore, i was the same.

But when the super glue keep failing and they kept falling off in the future, you would be thinking about how you shouldnt have clipped the metal tab off ><

When i try to smooth out the metal parts, i use metal files.
also either cut down, or cut away. so the blade never gets near you.

try a pair of wire cutters. or if you check with certian hobby stores there carry a small metal cutting saw. also knows as a jewelers saw.

Most people simply keep the metal strip on as it's supposed to keep the model upright on the slotted bases GW provides.

U know what's funny, I know that they're supposed to come with slotted bases, but the last 2 metal models (Weirdboy and this librarian termi) haven't come with slotted bases. Instead they come with a flat base, and the models have a peg for a pegged base. I'm so annoyed because it doesn't make sense

you drill the hole in the base. there are indents on the underneath to use as a guide

I personally would cut a hole in the plastic rather than cut off the tab. Will hold it much more strongly (is that a word?) to the base without the need to pin it. Last thing you want is your nicely painted figure snapping off its base because it is just superglued.

It's much easier to slice up the base than it is to cut off the tab. Go with what's easier

In my experience, many people 'new' to the hobby will find the hardest (and most dangerous to themselves) way of doing anything. It's a wonder there is ever a new generation that survives long enough to make it.

Models with a peg in the foot are meant to slot into a hole in the base (which you have to make). Turn the round base over (40mm or 60mm) and you will see s bunch of what look like small black tubes stuck to the underside. Drill into the centre of one of these from the bottom (small drill bit). Widen hole from top with modelling knife (put point in and turn it to make it bigger). Test with model for fit. If the hole is too small, take a bit more out and test again.

Glue onto base.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Go VERY slowly. It takes time, but eventually you can whittle off unsightly bits on a metal model.

Why do you want to take the tab off anyway?

Leave them there, if you must remove it, use clippers and then file.

Battlescars man! Ideally they are long and jagged running from the top of the head to the base of the jaw.
