Surfing around I found this CG made from the old Soviet K-7 Heavy Bomber secret plans from the 30s. It´s very easy why the idea was scraped as impractical but as the orks don´t care about silly things like physics.
A dare for someone with better scratch building skills than me?

It would be a challenge, but it would also be awesome to see it in an Apoc game. And with those hugh guns and all those engines, it already has an Ork feel to it IMHO.

Actually, with a better fuselage and jets instead of propellers, it might work. I mean, it's not as though it's a million miles away from an A380 in size.

What is a bit more disturbing is that it did fly (well, until a hunk of it's tail fell off).

Its simple: overspecialize and you breed in weakness. It's slow death.

Wow. Obviously the guns must not have been mounted when it actually flew. I doubt those ship's guns would have left the ground, and they must be just the animator's embellishment.

Heavy bombers and mini-tanks... the period between wars was a strange time for military technology.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

It didn't actually get built - that is just what it would have looked like.

I thought it was built? I'm sure I've seen it in one of my reference books before now, and the bit about it crashing rings true as well. I'm pretty sure it didn't have those huge guns on it though. I think the guy who made the CGI has gone to town on the embellishments. It does look pretty Orky in that picture though, physics issues aside.

Miguelsan, I don't know if you know about it, but I think Monogram makes a model of the "flying wing" that was an experimental test plane by Northrop during WWII. It' initial idea was later used for the B2 stealth bomber. Maybe finding that would be a good start for you or anybody interested. I think it's in 1/48 scale to boot. Hope that helps.

"Kalinin K-7 (Russian: Калинин К-7) was a heavy experimental aircraft designed and tested in the Soviet Union in the early 1930s. K-7 was of unusual configuration with twin booms and large underwing pods housing fixed landing gear and machine gun turrets. In the passenger version, seats were arranged inside the 2.3 meter (7 ft 7 in) thick wings. The airframe was welded from KhMA chrome-molybdenum steel. The original design called for six engines in the wing leading edge but when the projected loaded weight was exceeded, the seventh engine was added in the trailing edge of the central pod.[1]

K-7 first flew on 11 August 1933. Then on 21 November 1933 the aircraft crashed due to structural failure of one of the tail booms, killing 14 people aboard and one on the ground. Although two more prototypes were ordered in 1933, the project was canceled in 1935 before they could be completed."

I don´t recall the company but I think I had in my hands the same kit you´re talking about last week. My wife had to drag me away.

Miguelsan, pic you posted is not K7. Artist only use K7 general shape to create SF plane. Believe me nobody was so crazy to believe that he is able to fly this "thing"...

People have got to remember that most races cannot use Ork tech, because most things only work because the orks reckon they should.

So if you made one a bit smaller (scale wise) than this, then mounted Kannons on top and bottom and painted it red, there would be no reason not to use it. It'd look damn awesome too.

That is what one goofy inquisitor hypothesized. How do you explain Cain and friends driving around in an ork trukk, or the Armageddon Ork Hunter guys who use Ork equipment?

This crazy plane would be awesome for Orkz, if it can be built.

Why do red ork vehicles go fasta? Because they think they should.

Now, Ork stuff can work, but orky 'ositive tinkin' can make it 'ork even better!

Now, orky thinking can't make a bathtub fly. It still have to have some capability on its own. But, I think that orks could make something that's way too heavy fly, or make something fly faster, or mount a 16-inch cannon and not have it tear the hull in two.
