So, I've been moving away from my marines, as I'm tired of going to my LGS and playing Marines, Space Wolves, Dark Angels, Chaos, you get the idea. Sadly, my love for both orks and IG are too large to get rid of either, so I'll just have to collect both! That said, I've began painting some of them, trying out color scheme's and painting method's. I'd love to get some feedback on the painting. The main problem I have is getting paint in places it shouldn't be, and not touching it up, I'm sure you'll see what I mean. Anyways, feel free to let loose!

Not terribly happy with how this came out. Actually, the lascannon is quite fine(in my opinion), but the guardsmen were just a huge hassle to paint, considering they were on the base and glued together already. I definitely plan on popping them off to paint the other two teams I have on their bases, and in the future not attaching them until after I paint. Also tried some different things with both their clothing, let me know if you like the color scheme of either alot(I realize the paint job is crap)

What steps did you use on your cadians for the reds. I plan on doing something similiar.

A simple method, really. Basecoat with Mechrite red, wash with Baal red, and then extreme highlights with Blood red.

I primed my commisar's(all five), the mordian infantry, the officer, and Ursarkar Creed(I don't have jell, though). I'll have to decide which commisar I want to paint.

Yea nice painting! I really dig the colors on both as well. Your lascannons are going to hurt something.

I think the metal isnt to close to black, Im pretty sure its just a dark picture. The bosses klaw looks great in that top picture but the rest looks black, but the others are darker too.

Painted a commisar tonight, I'll take a picture or two for you guys tomorrow. He came out really well, imo.

Nicely painted commissar but why did you go with the brown tones rather than, what the fluff says aka Black clothing.

My guardsmen are traitors to the imperium, part of basically an omnissiah cult(although the guard don't have a large influence from it).

Sweet beard on that commissar. If you're doing traitor stuff shave off the insignia.

The thing is, other than me being lazy about things like that, it makes a lot of things seem to plain when you take off insignia's. I like to imagine that they don't have some vitrolic hatred towards the imperium, but they wanted to do things their own way(and manipulated by certain rogue adeptus mechanicus).
