White Dwarf has just dropped onto the doormat and seeing as I'm not at work this week, thought I'd post some of the hints and rumours scattered through out the pages.

Imperial Guard sneak peek finally appears, but we've seen the picture before - It's the Valkyrie on the landing platform, surrounded by a squad of Cadian Infantry. WD confirms however, that this is indeed the new plastic version. The only other IG rumour worth mentioning is something about a new "orders" system. Anyone care to elaborate further? Or is this just the platoon drill we've heard about?

War of the Ring is being released on 4th April along with the new plastic Ent (£15.00) and what looks like a plastic Army of the Dead boxed set (20 minis - £15.00). These are accompanied by a host of new metal miniatures such as Uruk-Hai, Rohan and Minas Tirith Commanders. For those who can't get enough of Gandalf, a new Minas Tirith version will be released on 18th April, along side more assorted metal commanders.

The good news? Jervis has a month off. The bad news? Standard Bearer still lurks within the the pages, but Rick Priestly has written it instead. He implies that Warhammer Fantasy will be getting a lot more large plastic models in the "not too distant future", one of which is presumably the plastic steam tank that we've already seen, but he also mentions that they now have the potential to make "huge monsters". Believe it when I see it Rick...

As for the rest of the content, if you want to look at endless variations of the new Stompa, then this is the magazine for you! The best one is by Fil Dunn who recreates the look of the old goggle eyed gargant from Space Marine (old Epic game).

There is also a reasonably inspiring article on converting and painting a Bad Moon Ork Warboss using the AOBR Warboss and spare bitz from the new Nobz boxed set.

See Rick Priestley is someone I would want to read a Standard Bearer column on, he seems to be behind most of my favorite GW products. Notably, Warmaster.

I'd like to hear from Rick P and will take the time to read this article, he created 40k and whilst he has taken a back seat to JJ, his voice carries alot of weight IMO. I would also just like to hear from another senior GW type, I find JJ to be personally rather full of his own self importance and to possess the PR skills of a tub of 'I can't believe it's not butter'.

All of these tidbits about the IG "Issuing Orders" has really perked my interest. Really hope someone hears something more about this.

Yes, I was mildly intrigued by a Rick Priestly Standard Bearer too, but it seemed very similar to JJ's "We're going to be doing this soon, it's going to be really cool, please buy it..."

And yes there really is an excessive amount of Stompas and stuff using the Baneblade chasis. Probably good WD for those who like Apocalypse though. There are some datasheets for the Stormlord (I think) and a Stompa "Horde" amongst others.

Good for those who like Apoc? Yay.

But $9 good? Probably not.

$9... is a bit to pricey. I thought it was high when it hit $5. I used to get every issue of it, but for the last 5 or 6 years it just hasn't been worth it.

I will have to look through it... Stompaz will stompaz 'uz!

It's the first WD I plan on buying after ~4 years. It's like they made this issue just for me. Stompa, Lizzies, Stompa, a stupidly huge battrep, Stompa, a Bad Moonz (which I play) painting guide, oh and the Stompa!

A little question about the 1st page....

Are those CoD (city of death) parts used as background :

-all existant or scratchbuilt?

because i can't remember to look at any "gothic cathedral windows" of the size of 4x standard wall-pieces.

some parts with statues look also built in series....

Its hard to create so detailed pieces of terrain as gothic windows in numbers and identical design.

Standard Bearer was more of the same, but at least they've got these fun little footnotes again. Especially the first one.
